Renault Trafic E-Tech Scoops Coveted IVotY Title for 2027
The all-new Renault Trafic E-Tech has been named 2027 International Van of the Year, one of the most sought-after prizes in the commercial vehicle industry.
One of the most significant launches of recent years, not only does the latest Trafic medium van enter its fourth generation with this latest model, it also switches to an electric-only platform.
As such, the new Trafic E-Tech has seen Renault start with a clean sheet of paper to develop a modular skateboard platform designed to maximise battery efficiency without sacrificing payload capacity and load space.
It’s these traits that were warmly received by the 26-strong IVotY jury with each member naming the Trafic E-Tech as their top pick to earn the electric van an unprecedented maximum total score overall.
This is the fifth time Renault has walked away with the top prize in the 35 editions that have taken place so far, most recently for the Renault Master in 2025, but also the Kangoo (2022 and 2012) and the second generation Trafic in 2002.

The Trafic is one of Europe’s best-selling and most recognisable commercial vehicle having shifted more than 3.4-million units since the nameplate debuted in 1980.
Switching to electric with this latest model will see the Trafic E-Tech square up to the Ford E-Transit Custom, Citroen e-Dispatch and forthcoming Kia PV7 Cargo.
It offers 8.0-cubic metres of load space – enough to carry three Euro pallets – and allows for up to 1300kg of payload capacity, putting it right on a par with the PV7.
The Renault and Kia are also evenly matched when it comes to range and efficiency, with the Trafic E-Tech quoted to travel up to 285-miles on a single cycle.
