Foton Tunland Pick-Up Truck to Spearhead Brand's UK Arrival
The pick-up truck segment is primed to gain another new entrant after it was announced the Foton Tunland will lead the Chinese brand’s UK arrival in early-2027.
Having teased an impending launch on these shores with a display at the Commercial Vehicle Show in April, Foton has now confirmed its Tunland pick-up truck will be front and centre of its UK debut.
A nameplate that has been in service since 2011, the latest generation Foton Tunland was introduced in 2023 and has gone on to enjoy success in the competitive Australian ‘ute’ market.
For its UK arrival, the Tunland will come with a 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system and an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the manufacturer says its ‘comfort-oriented suspension configuration’ is designed to ensure comfort and stability when unladen.
Finer details of the specification – such as payload, towing and load capacity – are yet to be revealed, but the Tunland’s rugged exterior follows the theme of rivals like the Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi L200 and KGM Musso Rhino with its enlarged front grille and chunky profile.
One of China’s largest LCV manufacturers, Foton has been open about its desire to enter the UK market and demonstrated as much by showing its Cavan C1 electric van at the CV Show in Birmingham.
The Tunland is just the latest in a slew of new models entering a UK pick-up truck market that is bouncing back after a number of entries were discontinued.
It comes hot on the heels of the L200 – which is spearheading Mitsubishi’s return to the UK space – the new KGM Musso Rhino, the latest generation Toyota Hilux and the revised Isuzu D-Max.
