More Range, More Power for Base Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo
The Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo range has received a significant update following the introduction of a new entry-level variant equipped with a more powerful, yet more efficient 58kWh battery.
Replacing the 59kWh battery, the revised battery – which can also be found in the new Volkswagen ID.3 Neo – might be a touch smaller than the outgoing version, but it delivers worthwhile improvements across the board.
Power is up from 168bhp to 188bhp, ensuring the Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo 58kWh can complete a 0-62mph sprint in little more than ten seconds.
More importantly, range is also up with 218-miles now possible on a single charge, which is an improvement on the erstwhile 201-miles. Meanwhile, a 10-80 per cent top-up takes just 26-minutes using a fast charger capable of carrying a rate of 105kW.
The new battery comes as part of a mid-cycle update for the entire ID. Buzz Cargo range, which now joins key rivals in being offered with V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) technology with up to 3.6kW available to power tools, equipment, laptops or even kitchen appliances.
The line-up now also gets access to VW’s 6.0 infotainment system, which integrates the app store and adds VW’s Connected Travel Assist, which allows the ID. Buzz Cargo to react to its surroundings, such as stopping automatically at red lights.
Beyond the new 58kWh entry-level model, which is offered in Commerce trim only, the ID. Buzz Cargo can be had with a larger, more powerful 79kWh battery capable of up to 277-miles of range and can be optioned with 4MOTION all-wheel drive.
Despite the raft of changes, the ID. Buzz Cargo’s distinctive retro-infused styling has been – rightfully – left untouched, ensuring the VW remains comfortably the most eye-catching commercial vehicle on the road right now.
