Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo LWB Offers Increased Load Space
An L2 version of the Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo has had its formal unveiling offering increased load space that puts it on a par with its closest rival, the Kia PV5 Cargo.
The all-electric ID. Buzz Cargo has proven to be a firm favourite among those looking to transition to a zero-emission commercial vehicle, with many being won over by its efficiency and its retro-infused styling.
While it sits in the same Medium Van category as the Volkswagen Transporter, whereas that model is designed to be a hard-grafting commercial vehicle that maximises its cargo space and payload, the ID. Buzz Cargo is seen as an alternative for those who want their business name to stand out on the road.

To date, the ID. Buzz Cargo – which is based on the seven-seat passenger-carrying variant of the same name – has been available only in L1-specification, where the head-turning styling and electric powertrain were compromised by comparatively limited load space versus other mid-size vans.
However, VW have moved to address this with the launch of the ID. Buzz Cargo LWB, which adds 250mm to the cargo area, increasing it from the L1’s 3.9-cubic metres of load space, to the L2’s 4.4-cubic metres. Load length is 2,458mm.
That puts it on a par with the Kia PV5 Cargo, arguably the ID. Buzz Cargo’s closest rival in terms of size, positioning and powertrain.

The standard twin rear sliding doors are also 190mm longer, allowing the ID. Buzz LWB to fit a full-size European pallet through it, while payload is 700kg for the single-motor model or 606kg for the dual-motor version.
Under the skin, the ID. Buzz Cargo L2 features an 86kWh battery for up to 280-miles of range (WLTP combined), putting it on a par with the likes of the forthcoming Kia PV7 and Renault Trafic E-Tech.
Beyond the addition of the L2 specification, all VW ID. Buzz Cargo models have received updates to improve functionality.
This includes an upgraded active cruise control function that recognises traffic lights to bring the vehicle to a halt without touching the brake pedal, while the infotainment controls are now physical to improve driver ergonomics.
The LWB version of the VW ID. Buzz Cargo is set to cost £2,000 more than the standard SWB.
