Renault Trafic 2019 facelift - everything we know so far
The medium sized Renault Trafic van has received a facelift for 2019 with the highlights being a new look and improved quality in the cabin, our team of van experts at Vansdirect take a closer look at the brand new van!
New Renault Trafic van
Renault vans have revealed the facelifted Renault Trafic van, the new model has been produced to keep the incredibly popular medium van from falling behind competitors such as the Vauxhall Vivaro which recently parted ways with the Renault van and is now based on the Citroen Dispatch and Peugeot Expert vans.
Appearance of the new Renault Trafic van
The new appearance of the Renault Trafic van is more of a subtle change rather than a complete overhaul, with the new medium van getting some styling cues seen in the Renault passenger car range, with a new grille design and C-shaped daytime running lights. Top-spec Renault Trafic Sport vans will also get the benefit of full LED headlamps, whilst there's also a new 'Urban Grey' matte paint finish.
Interior of the new Renault van
Inside the new Renault Trafic van you'll find new hard-wearing but comfortable fabrics, chrome trim, dark chrome finishers and the options of carbon fibre effect finishes. An impressive list of technology on-board includes Renault's latest R-Link Evolution infotainment system with Android Auto capability, whilst the Media Nav system also adds Apple CarPlay. There's hosts of storage on board the new Renault van, whilst versatility is also impressive with the passenger seat folding in multiple directions.
In the rear of the new van, there's still maximum load volumes up to 8.6 cubic metres available (L2H2 models), there's also different door locking options available to add to security and bright LED lighting also available. The rear of the new medium van features no fewer than 18 anchor points to secure your load, as well as fully opening rear doors to aid the process of loading and unloading and a load-through facility in the bulkhead to carry extra-long items such as pipes.
Engines of the new Renault van
There's changes under the bonnet of the new Renault van, with a new 2.0-litre dCi diesel engine joining the range offering outputs of 120ps, 145ps or 170ps. Renault vans have made the increase from 1.5-litre to 2.0-litre capacity with the intention of helping the medium van more easily meet more stringent new emissions legislation. Engine torque has increased to 380Nm, whilst Renault vans have made their EDC twin-clutch automatic transmission available with the most powerful engine. Emissions have been reduced with assistance from an SCR system, with fuel consumption also claimed to have been improved over the outgoing models.
Renault vans updates
The new Renault van is not the only model to be updated, Renault vans have also upgraded the Trafic passenger models, as well as the Renault Master large van, with both the new Trafic and Renault Master vans set to join the market later this year. Whilst Mitsubishi are also in the development of producing a medium van based on the Trafic, watch this space!
