Racing Attitude for new Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport-X Crew Van
Mercedes-Benz has given its medium van a fresh new attitude with the launch of the racing-inspired Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport-X Crew Van.
Exclusive to the UK market and available only as a Crew Van, the Vito Sport-X is just the latest in a line of new medium vans that have been upgraded with sporty aesthetics to help business liveries stand out on the road further.
The new model represents a nod towards the 130-year anniversary of Carl Benz’s ‘Combinations Delivery Vehicle’, which is considered one of the first ‘vans’ ever built.
Bringing things right up to date, however, the Vito Sport-X comes hot on the heels of other rival vans that have also adopted a more striking look to complement their practical designs, such as the Volkswagen Transporter Sportline, Vauxhall Vivaro GS, Farizon SV-R and Ford Transit Custom Sport.
From the outset, the Vito Sport-X gets a fresh honeycomb grille arrangement and a revised bumper featuring a splitter, while a rear spoiler, side skirts, roof rails, sporty tailpipes and glossy black detailing is also included.
Exclusive 19-inch black alloy wheels feature, while buyers can choose from a full range of striking paints, including Alpine Grey, Arctic White, Sodalite Blue, Obsidian Black, Kalahari Gold, High Tech Silver, Graphite Grey or Hyacinth Red.
Inside, the Vito-X gets two individual sport seats – replacing the standard three-wide layout – that are enhanced by individual headrests with Sport-X branding, plus dark suede and ‘eco-leather’ upholstery with orange stitching.
The Vito Sport-X is available only in a Crew Van specification but can be specified in either L2 or L3 body lengths, with payloads of up to 733kg. The rear bench can be removed to convert it into a two-seater van.
Under the bonnet sits a 187bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine generating 440Nm via a nine-speed automatic gearbox.
