New van battle: Citroen Berlingo v Vauxhall Combo

Small vans for sale

There are a growing number of small vans for sale in the UK new van market, two of the most popular options are the Citroen Berlingo and Vauxhall Combo van, Vansdirect pits the two against each other in our latest new van battle! Which of these small vans for sale should you choose?

The Citroen Berlingo and Vauxhall Combo vans are effectively two as one, with the main differences between the two being the differences between the front ends of the small vans and the Citroen vans and Vauxhall vans branding. In terms of carrying capabilities and driving experience from both, it is very difficult to separate the pair of small vans.

The panel of International Van of the Year 2019 judges couldn’t separate the Citroen Berlingo and Vauxhall Combo vans, with both small vans taking the main prize alongside the Peugeot Partner (another clone). Deciding a winner from these two really is a tough task. One area that Vauxhall vans and Citroen vans has control over is the specification of each van, so let’s take a closer look at the features you’ll get with each of the new small vans.

New van battle: Citroen Berlingo v Vauxhall Combo

Vauxhall vans have three versions of the Vauxhall Combo van available: Edition, Sportive and Limited Edition Nav. Whichever model you opt for you are guaranteed a generous level of features, standard across the range are: DAB digital radio, Bluetooth, daytime running lights, full-height steel bulkhead nearside sliding side-access door and so much more! Moving up the range to Vauxhall Combo Sportive models adds features such as: Rear parking sensors, body-coloured front and rear bumpers, metallic paint, air con, electronic cruise control and a remote control security alarm system.

Moving up to top spec Vauxhall Combo Limited Edition Nav models brings you more body coloured features including side-protection mouldings, door handles and sliding side-access door rail cover, as well as a protective front skid plate, 16-inch alloys and an 8-inch colour touchscreen and Satellite navigation system.

It is clear that whichever Vauxhall Combo van you opt for, you are guaranteed a plethora of standard features.

By contrast, Citroen vans offer four versions of the Citroen Berlingo van: X, Worker, Enterprise and Driver each designed specific users in mind, there is even a standalone Worker spec for those using their vans for tougher tasks and on building sites with increased ground clearance, underbody protection, mud & snow tyres, front fog lights and increased payload to name just a few highlights.

Whilst you get an impressive level of choice from the Vauxhall Combo van, there’s a bit more choice available from the Citroen Berlingo van, whilst top spec models are very similar in equipment levels.

The extra level of choice if the reason why we’ve just about opted for the Citroen Berlingo van as the winner, that being said choosing between the two excellent small vans is largely down to your personal preference and whether you prefer the Citroen vans or Vauxhall vans badge. Ultimately you’ll struggle to go wrong with either of these award winning small vans.
