Plug-in Van Grant (PiVG) - Which Electric Vans Are Eligible for Big Discounts?

Plug-in Van Grant (PiVG) - Which Electric Vans Are Eligible for Big Discounts?

The Plug-in Van Grant (PiVG) will remain in place until 2027 after the government confirmed an extension for the electric van discount scheme.

The grant was due to conclude in 2026 but is to stay in effect for another year giving drivers greater opportunity to secure savings on the price of an electric van.

The grant offers a discount of up to £2,500 on a small electric van and up to £5,000 towards the cost of a medium or large electric van. Plug-in hybrid vans that can travel at least 60 miles on electric power alone are also permitted.

Eligible vans with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 2.5 tonnes can receive as much as 35 per cent off the purchase price, up to a maximum spend of £2,500.

Vans with GVWs of 2.5-3.5 tonnes can also get 35 per cent off the vehicle’s purchase price but the cap is set higher at £5,000

As the UK Government’s ban on petrol and diesel vehicles looms ever closer, grants are in place to make the switch to electric vans more affordable.

The Plug-in Van Grant (PiVG) launched in 2012 and is now assured to remain in place until 2027.
