Ford Ranger Super Duty is the Pick-Up Truck for the Biggest Jobs
The Ford Ranger Super Duty is confirmed to be heading to the UK as a specialist pick-up truck designed specifically for hard grafting tasks.
The new model’s arrival had been anticipated after being featured on display at the Commercial Vehicle Show at the NEC in Birmingham last month.
While heavy duty pick-up trucks aren’t a common sight on this side of the world, they have carved a popular niche in Australia where most mainstream ‘utes’ are also offered with upgraded mechanicals to enhance key payload and towing specifications.

Designed with the most demanding professions in mind - namely those who work in forestry, building, military and the emergency services – the Ranger Super Duty gets more robust suspension, extra underbody protection and a higher ground clearance compared with the conventional Ford Ranger.
The modifications mean the Ranger Super Duty can take on nearly two-tonnes of payload – well up from the standard Ranger PHEV’s 1,043kg – while it can also haul up to 4,500kg when towing.
Under the bonnet, the new model is set to be powered by Ford’s familiar 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged diesel engine generating around 600Nm of torque.

“European governments and convertors serving the defence industry are increasingly looking for off-the-shelf vehicles that deliver the extreme capabilities required by the military,” Jim Baumbick, President of Ford in Europe, said.
“Ranger Super Duty is the right vehicle for the job. It’s the most capable Ranger ever built, creating a new heavy-duty truck segment in Europe. It’s available at scale, straight from our factory.”
It is hoped the new model will find favour with a specialist audience to help keep the Ranger atop the pick-up truck sales charts.
The current generation model dominates the rankings having now topped the end-of-year-table in Europe for 11 consecutive years.
