2026 Citroen Van Range: Everything You Need To Know
While today’s Citroen van range might share a lot in common with its Stellantis partners, including Peugeot and Vauxhall, the French firm’s legacy in the commercial vehicle industry is its redeeming selling point.
In fact, Citroen can lay claim to bringing the world one of the most iconic vans of all time – the Citroen 2CV Utility.
A panelled version of the classic 2CV, a model that was already borne out of a desire to give French labourers are hard-wearing machine to cross rutted terrains without breaking eggs, the 2CV Utility was built to be robust and durable, allowing many to remain on the road decades later.
The 2CV is not the only famous van Citroen has produced over the years. Even before that, Citroen built the Type H, which enjoyed a spectacularly long production run between 1947 and 1981and became a common sight on French roads.
It’s this heritage that has shaped its current line-up of the Berlingo small van, Dispatch medium van and the Relay large van, badges that have become household names since they were introduced in the 1990s.

Citroen Berlingo
While the UK commercial vehicle market is broadly dominated by Ford, it is the Citroen Berlingo that currently holds sway as Britain’s favourite small van.
It’s a position it has held for some years, the Berlingo earning favour on the strength of clever packaging that maximises its load space and payload capacity within manageable dimensions.
Available in Medium (L1) and XL (L2) body styles, the Berlingo comes as a standard three-seat panel van or a five-seat crew van.
In Medium guise, the Berlingo offers 3.3 cubic metres of load space, rising to 3.9 cubic metres in XL trim. However, this can be increased to 3.8 cubic metres and 4.4 cubic metres respectively when specified with the Extenso option that offers a load-thru hatch to accommodate particularly long items.
Crucially, the Berlingo offers class-leading payload capacities, with diesel variants capable of holding between 927-984kg. Electric versions are also generous compared to similarly sized EV rivals at 642-781kg.
Two 1.5-litre BlueHDi turbodiesel engines generating 101bhp and 129bhp are available, along with the 52kWh Citroen e-Berlingo, which delivers up to 213-miles (WLTP) combined range.

Citroen Dispatch
The Citroen Dispatch is a medium van available in Medium (L1) and XL (L2) body sizes, either as a panel van or a crew van.
Like the Berlingo, the Dispatch comes with Citroen’s Extenso option, which increases Medium load capacity from 5.3 to 5.8 cubic metres, while the XL trim rises from 6.1 cubic metres to 6.6 cubic metres.
Unlike other mid-size vans, the Dispatch XL places its extended length behind the rear axle (rather than extend the wheelbase), allowing for an easier, wider aperture at the rear.
Payload capacity will ultimately depend on which body size and engine combination is selected, but there isn’t much disparity between the different configurations.
Indeed, all versions of the Dispatch (known as the Jumpy in Europe) offer over 1000kg of payload at least, rising to the most generous of 1326kg on the Dispatch M 2.2-litre diesel 150hp Automatic model.

Citroen Relay
The biggest model in Citroen’s commercial vehicle range, the Citroen Relay is a large van available in six body sizes: L2/H1, L2/H2, L3/H2, L3/H3, L4/H2 and L4/H3.
This gives the Relay a multitude of size options to suit your business needs, with the smallest offering up to 10 cubic metres of load space, while the largest provides up to 17 cubic metres.
It makes the Relay (known as the Jumper in Europe) one of the largest vans in its sector, while it also has one of the most varied size options too.
Payload capacity will vary depending on the model with the most generous weight dispensation available with the L4/H2 at up to 2115kg.
Like the smaller Dispatch, the longest versions of the Relay – the L4 – differs from rivals by placing the extended length behind the rear-axle, rather than increasing the length of the wheelbase. As such, the L3 and L4 have identical wheelbase dimensions.
The Citroen Relay is offered with the choice of two 2.2-litre turbodiesel engines delivering up to 44mpg in ‘140’ guise, or 35mpg in more powerful ‘180’ trim.
There is also the electric Citroen e-Relay, which packs a 110kWh battery for up to 263-miles of range depending on the model.
