Volkswagen Amarok wins International Pick-up of the Year 2018
At an award ceremony which saw the Iveco Daily Blue Power named International van of the Year 2018, the new Volkswagen Amarok was also named as Pick-up van of the Year 2018!

Volkswagen vans were honoured with the International Pick-up of the Year Award 2018 at a special ceremony held in Lyon, France which was attended by 1500 representatives from the European new van and pick-up industry.
The new Volkswagen Amarok offers the largest selection of Euro 6 compliant V6 diesel engines and model alternatives, in conjunction with a variety of new technical advancements, which saw the new pick-up van pocket the prize. To decide the winner of the Pick-up award, each of the new vans nominated were put through their paces in an extensive group test drive program, which the Volkswagen Amarok came out of on top as voted by the International Van of the Year Jury.
The Volkswagen Amarok faced some stiff competition on the fourth running of the biennial International Award for 1-tonne pick-up vans. It was very much the case of two ends of the scale in the established Volkswagen Amarok and Toyota Hilux pick-up vans and two newcomers to the segment in the form of the Renault Alaskan and Mercedes X-Class pick-ups.
Chairman of the International Van of the Year July, Jarlath Sweeney explained the reasoning behind the Amarok receiving the award:
"Jury members adjudged the Amarok V6 to be the best all-rounder in a very close-run competition. The latest Volkswagen Amarok V6 scored 56 points with its new German rival, the all-new Mercedes-Benz X-Class achieving 50 marks with the current Toyota Hilux not too far behind on 41 points. Marks were awarded based on powertrain efficiencies, load volume and capability, driver and passenger comfort and safety aspects, as well as low total cost of operation from a business point of view."
Volkswagen vans were understandably pleased with the award with Chairman of the Board of Management at the firm Dr. Eckhard Scholz focusing on customer satisfaction as the primary reason behind the award:
