New Ford Ranger 2018 model revealed!
Ford vans have revealed the new facelifted Ford Ranger pick-up van ahead of its global debut at the Detroit Motor Show 2018!

The new Ford Ranger pick-up van will share a stage at the Detroit motor show alongside the all new Ford Edge ST, an SUV that will not be coming to the UK. The same can't be said for the new Ford Ranger which will be making its way to the UK later on this year!
The iconic Ford Ranger pick-up van has been around for some time and underwent its most recent facelift in 2016, giving it a new front grille, while the engines were also updated to improve efficiency, with the addition of stop and start technology. In conjunction with these changes, the suspension was also tweaked to improve comfort on-road, whilst the pick-up van also gained a completely remodelled interior and the latest navigation and infotainment systems from Ford vans were added to top of the range models.
With all of these updates added in 2016, you may be surprised to see that the Ford Ranger is undergoing an additional facelift, however with the pick-up van segment growing and competition increasing from the likes of the new Mercedes X-Class pick-up, Ford vans have further enhanced the iconic pick-up van.
Ford Ranger 2018 facelift - what's new?
There are only a few minor tweaks in terms of design to the new model, Ford vans have reshaped the headlamps and equipped the new pick-up van with a slimmer front grille, whilst at the back of the van, the Ranger name has been stamped into the tailgate.
The new pick-up van will go on sale in North America firstly, with new Ford Ranger models in the US being made available with a 2.3-litre turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine in conjunction with a new 10-speed automatic transmission. Ford vans have boasted that the powertrain delivers V6 levels of performance, with the efficiency of a four-cylinder engine!
The new Ford Ranger is available as both two and four-wheel drive models, with an electronic locking rear differential offered for improved traction. Ford vans have also launched a new FX4 off-road package, adding a terrain management system with four driving modes for different conditions (normal, snow, mud and sand). Also included is a trail control function which lets the pick-up control braking and acceleration when off-road.
Inside the new pick-up van there are minimal changes, however Ford vans have fitted their SYNC 3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto. The new Ranger also offers a B&O Play sound system and 4G WiFi!
It remains to be seen what models of the new Ranger and what specifications will be available on UK models, however we can use the US model as a starting point. The new Ranger will join the UK market later on this year!
