No Poor-traits: Landscapers Identified as Fittest Tradespeople
Landscapers, plumbers and carpenters have been highlighted as the tradespeople with the fittest lifestyles because of the physical exercise they get from their profession.
In a new survey carried out by Citroen, the manufacturer quizzed 1000 UK tradespeople across a variety of professions traditionally associated with driving vans and carrying out manual labour.
Asking questions about their exercise habits, fitness levels, the physical arduousness of their job, eating trends and the number of steps completed every day, Citroen awarded points based on their responses.
Based on this information, it was landscapers who emerged with the highest average scores of all the trades analysed, followed by plumbers, carpenters, plasterers and bricklayers.
Landscapers scored particularly highly for walking distance with an average of 12,274 steps completed every day, while 81 per cent of those quizzed could go as far as 20,000 steps.
For the most part, a job in the trade industry reveals a large proportion undergo strenuous physical activity at work on a daily basis, though 77 per cent of those surveyed said they liked the level of exercise they get from their profession.
The most physically demanding trade was roofing with a full 100 per cent of roofers agreeing with the statement, followed closely by builders at 94 per cent.
Of the respondents, 89 per cent say that eating healthily is important to them with tilers, bricklayers and plumbers typically having two balanced meals a day.
Bricklayers, meanwhile, were the tradespeople most likely to go to the gym in addition to their physical profession.
Greg Taylor, Managing Director, Citron UK, said: “This latest research from Citron highlights how fit tradespeople are, and how much they value a healthy lifestyle.
“Citron has always been a partner of tradespeople, providing a range of accessible and comfortable models that are suited to every drivers need.”
