Big Payload Increase for Mercedes-Benz Citan Range

The Mercedes-Benz Citan range has been given a significant update following a retool that allows both L1 and L2 to carry a larger payload.
The Citan, which shares its platform with the Renault Kangoo and Nissan Townstar and is built alongside both in France, had been notable for offering a considerably lower payload capacity than its siblings.
However, Mercedes-Benz has moved to rectify this with new version of the Citan gaining around 20 per cent more payload potential on short and long wheelbase models.
The biggest gains are to be seen on the entry-level 110 Base L1, which sees its payload capacity increase from 479kg to 680kg.
The 110 Base L2 also rises significantly, going from 684kg to 854kg as one of three trims in the Citan range now offering more than 800kg of payload for the first time.
The increase brings the Citan into line with the Kangoo, while exceeding the payload capacity of the Townstar.
Moreover, the Mercedes-Benz Citan range has also grown to include a model that mates the 1.5CDi 112 engine with the Base trim.
