WATCH: Ford F-150 Lightning SuperTruck Blow Competition Away at Goodwood
A pick-up truck wouldn’t ordinarily be your first thought when it comes to considering a performance vehicle... but then the Ford F-150 Lightning SuperTruck is no ordinary pick-up truck!
With a mind-boggling 1600hp generated by three electric motors and 3000Nm of torque on tap, the SuperTruck is eye-wateringly fast.
It’s also spectacular to look at with a mammoth rear spoiler and snow plough-style carbon-fiber at the front all designed to ensure the SuperTruck stays rooted to the ground as it lays down some serious performance.
It’s all for a specific purpose though, the SuperTruck last year becoming the latest automotive marvel to conquer the Pikes Peak Hillclimb event in record-breaking time. The annual sprint event up a Mountain in Colorado has long been a Mecca for outlandish motoring excess in the pursuit of speed and nothing more.
A year on, the SuperTruck was back to tackle another iconic Hillclimb, this time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and once again it was victorious.
In the hands of Le Mans 24 Hours race winner and Hillclimb specialist Romain Dumas, the SuperTruck demolishes the opposition, stopping the clock at 43.22secs in the timed shoot-out – almost two seconds faster than its closest rival.
Words don’t quite do the SuperTruck justice though, so take a seat, hit play on the video below and prepare to be blown away!
The SuperTruck’s run takes place at 9mins 34secs in the video.
