Volkswagen Amarok Dark Label Special Edition is a Mood

Volkswagen Amarok Dark Label Special Edition is a Mood

The pick-up truck segment has seen a raft of brand-new entries in recent months, but existing rivals aren’t resting on their laurels, as demonstrated by the newly launched Volkswagen Amarok Dark Label Special Edition.

Indeed, the return of the Mitsubishi L200 and major updates for the Toyota Hilux, KGM Musso and Isuzu D-Max means the Amarok now serves as one of the longer serving flat-beds on the market now.

Not that it is ‘old’ per se – being launched in 2022 – but that hasn’t stopped VW from bidding to keep the Amarok youthful with the launch of a stealthy looking Dark Label Special Edition.

Gone is the lashings of chrome seen on the existing model to be replaced by gloss black detailing on the roof rails, bumpers, fascia and mirrors. Though other primary colours are available to order, the detailing looks particularly striking when matched with the black colourway.

The VW Amarok Dark Label Special Edition is paired with a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine, which comes complete with a 10-speed automatic transmission and the capable 4MOTION four-wheel drive system. A locking rear differential is also fitted as standard.

Other features unique to this special edition include all-black fabric seats, a load liner and sliding load cover.

The Amarok shares its underpinnings with the top-selling Ford Ranger pick-up truck and should be good for 1000kg of payload, as well as 3,500kg of braked towing capacity.
