New 2026 Pick-Up Trucks: Which Brand-New Pick-Up Trucks Are Coming Soon?

New 2026 Pick-Up Trucks: Which Brand-New Pick-Up Trucks Are Coming Soon?

Rumours of the pick-up truck segment’s demise have been greatly exaggerated it would seem.

That’s if the long list of all-new flat bed machinery on the way in 2026 is anything to go by, anyway.

Indeed, while the pick-up truck class has shrunk in numbers in recent years, the category is due to make a big comeback in 2026 with several ambitious new models – some featuring exciting new powertrains – slated for arrival.

While it remains to be seen whether all the following new models will definitely make it to the UK, it at least shows that if you’re interested in a new pick-up truck for 2026, the class is in rude health.

Toyota Hilux

One of the big new launches in 2026 across the entire automotive landscape is the ninth generation Toyota Hilux pick-up truck.

A byword for durability and practicality, the Hilux has earned its place in automotive folklore as a dependable workhorse that can be found scaling sand dunes, climbing mountains, skating across muddy fields or simply trudging the streets of London.

It’s this versatility that has made the Hilux a legend across the world, so it’s little wonder that Toyota has played it relatively safe with the ninth iteration, which comes nearly 60 years after the first arrived.

Taking cues from the Toyota Landcruiser, the Hilux gets an edgier, more contemporary appearance for 2026, while the interior has also received perhaps the most significant overhaul.

While it’s all change on the surface, the Hilux retains the same proven 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine and has been designed to ensure a plus one-tonne payload capacity and a maximum 3500kg braked towing capacity.

Unlike previous generations, the new Hilux will come only as a Double Cab body style, but it should continue to be unstoppable in the rough stuff.

Toyota Hilux BEV & Hydrogen

Beyond the raft of changes made to the Hilux in turbodiesel guise, Toyota have also taken the opportunity with this new generation to introduce the option of a pure electric version too.

The pick-up truck class has been slow to respond to the recent influx of electric technology in the automotive industry, due to a combination of ageing platforms, packaging constraints and limitations when it comes to maximising key payload and towing attractions.

It’s an equation manufacturers are beginning to get their head around, however, with Toyota joining Isuzu in adapting its pick-up truck with an electric powertrain.

The Toyota Hilux BEV packs a 59.2kWh lithium-ion battery and has permanent four-wheel drive, with torque totalling 475Nm distributed to the front and rear axles.

In an effort to limit the compromise for off-road ability and pulling power, the Hilux BEV runs to 150-miles of range, with a payload of 715kg and 1600kg of towing mass.

BEV isn’t the only alternative fuel Toyota is investing in with the Hilux, however, with a hydrogen fuel cell version pencilled to arrive in 2028.

While facilities for hydrogen fuel are limited and comparatively pricey, the technology is more akin to diesel when it comes to refuelling but produces zero emissions, while it also negates the range and payload limitations that BEVs suffer.

isuzu-d-max

Isuzu D-Max EV

Toyota isn’t the only manufacturer dabbling in electric pick-up truck tech with Isuzu beating its Japanese rival to the punch by unveiling the Isuzu D-Max EV last year.

Set to go on sale in 2026, the D-Max EV is the firm’s first-ever electric model and will go head-to-head with the Hilux BEV.

Based on pure statistics, the Isuzu has the edge with a predicted 160-mile range while retaining the important one-tonne payload capacity and a full 3500kg towing capacity.

Beyond the powertrain, the D-Max EV is barely distinguishable form its popular ICE-equipped counterpart, which means the same chunky and handsome styling, plus well-kitted out interior.

mitsubishi-l200

Mitsubishi L200

The commercial vehicle industry has seen several all-new brands enter the fray in recent years, but 2026 will also see a familiar one return in the form of Mitsubishi.

The Japanese firm exited the UK market in 2021 on the back of declining sales for its passenger models, but while its car line-up failed to excite buyers back then, it was always a different story for its iconic pick-up truck, the Mitsubishi L200.

Indeed, the L200 remained one of the pick-up truck sector’s most popular options right until it was pulled from sale, so it’s little surprise to see it reinstated into Mitsubishi UK’s revived range.

Since its last appearance on UK price lists, the L200 – known as the Triton in other markets – has undergone a major transformation, with the latest generation adopting a more muscular appearance and plush interior.

If specifications remain unchanged for the UK, the L200 is set to take on the Ford Ranger with class-leading payload capacity, excellent off-road ability and a punchy 201bhp 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine.

kgm-musso-ev

KGM Musso EV

Korean manufacturer KGM has carved out something of a niche for itself with the Musso pick-up truck, so much so that it plans to spin the nameplate off into its own sub-brand of multiple flatbed models.

The first of these, the KGM Musso EV, is already on sale in other parts of the world as one of the first all-electric pick-up trucks to hit the market.

Taking inspiration from KGM passenger car line-up – specifically the Torres SUV – the KGM Musso EV is purposefully targeted at a more lifestyle orientated market with its short load bay, much like entry-level versions of the current Musso.

For now, KGM is still assessing whether to bring the Musso EV to the UK but if it does it will come with an 80.6kWh battery capable of up to 249-miles of range and featuring a 690kg payload.

If the Musso EV isn’t heavy-duty enough for you, KGM is also busy preparing a more conventional ICE-equipped pick-up truck to launch in 2026.

The Musso - as it will be known - acts as both the brand and model name (a bit like 'Madonna'). It will be a more direct replacement for the current model but will grow in size to sit more neatly as a rival to the Ford Ranger and new Toyota Hilux.

Recently unveiled imagery of the new Musso sees it gain a more robust appearance and an accentuated interpretation of KGM’s striking design language.

It is set to be offered with a turbodiesel engine and feature a load bay capable of hauling well over a tonne of payload.

byd-shark-6

BYD Shark 6 PHEV

There has been little escaping the rapid rise of BYD cars on UK roads over the last couple of years.

Now the Chinese manufacturer is getting ready to launch its biggest model yet; the BYD Shark 6 pick-up truck.

The model is already well established in other countries, with the UK next to get a taste of the mammoth double cab model.

Significantly, however, while many of BYD’s cars have been electric, the Shark 6 pick-up truck is set to be offered as a plug-in hybrid, putting it in direct competition with the Ford Ranger PHEV.

The Shark 6 PHEV is expected to feature a 29.8kWh battery capable of travelling 62 miles on electric power only, a significant increase on the Ranger’s proposed 27-miles. However, the Ranger PHEV would have superior payload and towing capacities.

Pick-Up Trucks That Could Arrive in 2026

ram-rampage

RAM Rampage

It’s already one of the most reputed names for pick-up trucks in its native United States, now RAM will begin making headway into European markets for the first time in 2026 with its first dedicated offering, the Rampage.

The model is already well-established in South America but will be launched in selected countries in 2026 (UK TBA) in an effort to play on the firm’s globally renowned expertise in the pick-up truck sector.

Ironically, for a firm best-known for its large-scale, big-engined models, the Rampage is a modestly sized car-derived pick-up truck that would sit below models like the Ford Ranger. Instead, it is pitched as an easy-to-drive, yet practical lifestyle accessory with four-wheel drive.

Two versions will be offered at launch: one with a 2.2-litre turbodiesel offering 200bhp, or the high-performance R/T boasting 272bhp from its 2.0-litre Hurricane 4 Turbo Petrol engine.

chery-himla

Chery Himla

Having already made a big splash with its first wave of passenger car models, Chery is understood to be considering which other models from its vast catalogue to bring to the UK.

The parent company behind the wildly successful Jaecoo and Omoda brands, the Chery nameplate also launched in its own right last year and has won acclaim for its Tiggo range of SUVs.

Tipped to arrive in 2026 is Chery’s dedicated pick-up truck line, known as Himla, which boasts chunky, utilitarian styling – not dissimilar to the Maxus T60 MAX – and could be offered with the choice of diesel, hybrid and electric powertrains.

kia-tasman

Kia Tasman

2025 wasn’t just the year Kia expanded its range to include vans, it also launched its first pick-up truck, the Kia Tasman, in selected markets.

A bold interpretation of its current ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, the quirkily styled Tasman has been targeted primarily at the Australian ‘ute’ market but since it too adopts right-hand drive vehicles, it could smooth its path to the UK in the coming years.
