Kia PV5, Maxus Deliver 9 Awarded 5-Star EuroNCAP Safety Rating
The all-new Kia PV5 and the popular Maxus Deliver 9 are among the latest vans to receive a maximum five-star safety rating by EuroNCAP.
Five vans were put through their paces by EuroNCAP during its latest round of commercial vehicle testing, which is focused on assessing the effectiveness of safety features – such as autonomous braking and lane keeping – as a means of crash prevention.
Of these, two were brand-new vans – the Kia PV5 and BYD E-Vali – and three were reassessments of previously tested vans – the Iveco Daily, Maxus Deliver 9 and Maxus Deliver 7 - that have since had their safety features upgraded.
Of the models tested, the Kia PV5 will likely generate great interest. The Korean marque is establishing a brand-new commercial vehicle arm, with the PV5 representing its first entry.
The model has already walked away with several high-profile awards – including International Van of the Year 2026 – and continued to impress EuroNCAP testers with its generous and effective safety tech.
It earned 75% for Safe Driving, 80% for Crash Avoidance and 80% of Post Crash Safety, earning it an overall score of five-stars.
“The PV5 Cargo emerges from Euro NCAP's tests with a five-star rating, putting it amongst the best choices for those looking for safety as well as practicality,” read the testers comments.
“The autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system is standard equipment throughout Europe. The system combines AEB with Forward Collision Warning (FCW) that detects vulnerable road users like pedestrians and cyclists as well as other vehicles.
“In Euro NCAP’s tests of the system’s reaction to vehicles, performance was good, even at higher speeds.
“The system performed well in tests of its reaction to pedestrians and cyclists, with collisions avoided in most test scenarios. The system also protects pedestrians to the rear of the van.”

Maxus, Iveco and BYD Also Earn 5 Stars
The Kia PV5 wasn’t the only new van being put through its paces with EuroNCAP also trialling the BYD E-Vali.
The large electric van recently made its debut in Europe and could be added to the Chinese marque’s UK range in 2026.
It scored well across the board, gaining 62% for Safe Driving, 91% for Crash Avoidance and 80% for Post Crash Safety.
Meanwhile, the Maxus Deliver 9, Maxus Deliver 7 and Iveco Daily – which all previously held four-star ratings from EuroNCAP – were re-tested on the back of updates made the respective models.
Each has now been upgraded to a full five-stars.
