KGM Reveals New Musso Pick-Up Truck, Confirms Standalone Brand

KGM Reveals New Musso Pick-Up Truck, Confirms Standalone Brand

KGM have pulled wraps off its new flagship pick-up truck, which will be known simply ‘Musso’ to reflect both its brand and model name.

A direct replacement for the KGM Musso – which is sold in two body sizes in the UK – the Korean firm will use this new generation model to debut ‘Musso’ as a standalone brand name focused on pick-up trucks.

As such, the new model is referred to simply as ‘Musso’, which is reflected in the branding on the front-end design, though KGM name can be found embossed on the rear-end hatch.

Compared with its predecessor – which draws its design heavily from the KGM Rexton SUV - the new Musso gets its own interpretation of KGM’s eye-catching design language, namely the protruding grille and staggered light-bar that stretches beneath the bonnet line.

The latest Musso is also noticeably boxier and chunky than the model it will replace, putting it directly into line as a rival to the Ford Ranger and new Toyota Hilux.

However, it will continue to be offered with the choice of a short or long-deck load bay, with the latter claiming a class-leading 1262kg of payload capacity.

Though exact UK specifications haven’t been confirmed, the Musso is likely to come with a 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine producing 202bhp

The Musso is the second new pick-up truck to come from KGM over the past 12 months.

The firm has also launched the KGM Musso EV in its native Korea, though it remains to be seen whether it will be offered in the UK.

Unlike the new Musso, the EV is aimed at lifestyle customers due to its reduced payload of 695kg and shorter deck that closest rivals. However, its 80.6kWh battery is expected to offer a competitive 249-miles of range.

The new Musso models are just two of several new arrivals slated for 2026, along with the Toyota Hilux, Isuzu D-Max EV, Mitsubushi Triton and BYD Shark 6.
