Isuzu Reveals New Electric D-Max Pick-up Truck

Isuzu Reveals New Electric D-Max Pick-up Truck

The all-electric pick-up marks a new era for the brand, offering uncompromising versatility.

  • Japanese manufacturer Isuzu has announced its first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) – the D-Max BEV.
  • The electric pick-up truck was unveiled in concept form at the 45th Bangkok International Motor Show from 27th March – 7th April.
  • The new model boasts a 1-tonne payload, 3.5-tonne towing capacity, and all-wheel drive (AWD).

It’s expected to launch in the UK as early as 2025 and is set to offer increased efficiency for pick-up drivers.

As the electric van market grows, van drivers are benefitting from more choice when it comes to electrifying their businesses.

With lots of small, medium, and large electric van options, it seems electric pick-ups are the most limited. The Maxus T-90 has been the only electric pick-up available in the UK since its launch in 2021.

Though that’s set to change with Isuzu’s newest model, the D-Max BEV. Read on for all the latest on the new electric pick-up truck.

Fully electric power

The new Isuzu D-Max BEV will feature the brand’s new electric powertrain. Equipped with a 66.9kWh lithium-ion battery, this produces a maximum output of 130kW for instant power and torque.

It’s set to achieve a maximum speed of 130km/h (81mph), which means it will be equally capable for motorway and off-road driving. With all-wheel drive (AWD), the new electric pick-up will embrace any road or terrain.

Zero tailpipe emissions also means the Isuzu D-Max BEV will also help van drivers enjoy increased savings. Electric vehicles (EVs) currently don’t pay any road tax and are exempt from Low Emission Zone (LEZ) charges.

Isuzu hasn’t yet released an estimated range figure, though if it’s anything like the 205-mile (WLTP) Maxus T-90, then it’s sure to deliver.

Uncompromising performance

Particularly impressive is the D-Max BEV’s exceptional towing and payload capabilities. Despite the weight of its electric battery, it offers up to 1,000kg payload, which is plenty of space to transport heavier cargo.

As for towing, the new D-Max claims a 3.5-tonne towing capacity, which is impressive for an electric pick-up of its size.

All this comes at no cost to performance, thanks to advanced e-Axles in the front and rear. This will enable reduced noise and vibration even on the most uneven of road surfaces. Allowing you to transport your load securely and confidently.

A new beginning for Isuzu

The new Isuzu D-Max BEV pick-up truck will be launched in select European markets in 2025. Followed by expansion to the UK, Australia, Thailand and elsewhere based on demand.

Alan Able, Managing Director of Isuzu UK commented on its release:

“The Isuzu D-Max BEV represents a new era for pick-up trucks, combining the legendary toughness of the D-Max with electric technology.

We are proud to work with a manufacturer committed to creating a carbon-neutral future and announce this innovative vehicle to the UK market, providing our customers with an environmentally friendly option without compromising on performance or reliability.”
