Isuzu D-Max V-Cross Commercial is a Tax-Friendly Pick-Up Van

Isuzu has announced it is bolstering its business vehicle range with the launch of the van-inspired Isuzu D-Max V-Cross Commercial.
Based on the award-winning Isuzu D-Max, the Commercial has four doors and a permanent rear canopy, but only two seats.
As a result, the D-Max Commercial retains full commercial vehicle tax status to sidestep the recent Benefit-In-Kind company car rules that have significantly raised the cost of taxing a double cab pick-up truck.
Targeted at SMEs, farmers, trades and construction professionals, the D-Max Commercial is a permanent conversion with a fixed canopy over the rear load bed. It also comes with a tow bar (plus towing electrics), load bed liner, rear passenger door window tints and protective seat covers.
By removing the rearmost seats and installing a fixed bulkhead behind the driver/passenger seats – in addition to the bulkhead that separates the cabin from the load bed - the D-Max Commercial has an adapted secure load zone.
Better still, the Commercial retains many of the Isuzu D-Max's most attractive traits, namely its plus-one tonne payload, sizeable load bay, 3500kg towing capacity and exceptional off-roading ability.
Despite its business-orientated positioning, the D-Max Commercial is being made available in flagship V-Cross trim, which opens it up to a lavish specification that includes dual-zone climate control, a wireless 9-inch infotainment display and an upgraded ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).
Key to the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross Commercial’s appeal, however, is its classification as a commercial vehicle in the eyes of a tax man.
Indeed, the Isuzu D-Max is already available in a ‘Single’ body style – with two-seats and an extended load bay – which means it qualifies for a fixed road tax rate by virtue of it being primarily targeted for business use only.
However, while the Single is available in a base Utility trim level, the D-Max V-Cross Commercial offers the chance to drive a higher-specification pick-up truck without being subject to a BiK rate dictated by CO2 emissions figures like other double-cab style models.
As such, for company drivers, the model keeps its flat-rate £4,020 Benefit in Kind for the 2025/26 tax year. These benefits are particularly significant for SMEs and self-employed professionals looking to reduce the potential costs introduced under the new legislation changes.
