The Ford Transit Custom continued to hold firm as the UK’s most popular light commercial vehicle (LCV) in February 2025 as sales of electric models showed a marked increase year-on-year.

Having kicked off the year with the top spot - having continued its reign throughout 2024 – the Ford Transit Custom continued to shift in sizeable numbers with another 2,361 units finding homes in February 2025.

Indeed, it has been a strong start to the year all around for Ford with three of its commercial vehicles – the Transit Custom, Transit and Ranger – holding down the top three in the year-to-date ranking to give it an undisputed lead over its competitors in the sales charts after just two months.

Elsewhere, the Vauxhall Vivaro enjoyed a spike in popularity for February, rising to second position, while there was increased interest in the Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Expert and Toyota Hilux too.

Overall, however, sales of vans were down year-on-year compared with February 2024, though demand during this month is generally lower owing to the anticipated registration plate change from March.

There was a 55% rise in BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicles), which came close to doubling the market share to 9.7% of all LCV sales over the course of the month.

There was, however, a slip for pick-up sales – down 4.8% compared with 12 months ago. This is despite the looming deadline to purchase one before double-cab models are reclassified as company cars and are therefore subject to emissions-based tax regulations.

March 2025 will be the final month for potential buyers to get their hands on a pick-up under the current more lenient measures.
