Deal of the day: Citroen Dispatch Enterprise

The Citroen Dispatch is one of the most rounded vans on the market. Offering a choice of two lengths and two heights, the Dispatch shares its body shape with two other vans - the Peugeot Expert and Fiat Scudo.

With satellite navigation and vehicle tracking as standard across the range, the Dispatch steals a march on its rivals. We'll be looking at the enterprise version - the top-spec model - which comes with air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity and a USB socket to connect other devices.

 

Enterprise models also get twin sliding side doors, meaning that the Dispatch's load area is nothing if not accessible. The load area itself provides a usable volume of 5 cubic metres, and can accommodate cargo up to 988kg in weight. There's also a handy 12v socket present. Separating the cabin and load area is a full steel bulkhead to keep you, your passengers and your cargo safe.

 

Capable of accommodating loads of up to 2254mm in length, the Dispatch's load area provides headroom of 1449mm. There is a benefit to such a low profile - the Dispatch can access underground car parks with a 1.9m height restriction.

 

The Citroen Dispatch Enterprise van is powered by a 1.6-litre engine delivering a maximum power output of 90PS and a maximum torque figure of 180Nm. The engine is Euro 5 compatible and achieves 42.2mpg on the combined cycle, according to Citroen.

 

Inside the cab, the switchgear and controls are functional and well placed. It's a distinctly-plain looking interior dashboard, but is well made and durable. The Enterprise model comes with rear parking sensors to improve manoeuvrability and make parking a 5-metre long van a little easier. A pop-out cup holder is great for holding your morning coffee and there are dual passenger seats for an extra passenger.

 

Storage options are present in abundance; there's an overhead storage shelf, large glove box and a deep passenger side bin. There are also door pockets on both sides as well as additional cubbyholes in the dashboard.

 

In terms of running costs, the Citroen Dispatch is competitive in its class with a combined figure of 42.2mpg and is in insurance groups 3E to 4E - again lower than other vans in its class.
