Dacia Duster Cargo Turns Trendy SUV Into Load Lugging LCV
Dacia has announced it is expanding its LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) offerings with the launch of the new Dacia Duster Cargo.
The second iteration of the van-orientated SUV, the latest Dacia Duster Cargo replaces a predecessor that was phased out when the passenger model it was based on was succeeded by a new version.
With the latest generation passenger model having been on sale since 2024, Dacia has moved to swell the range once more with a full-factory LCV conversion based around the new Duster.
Aimed at businesses who need a practical two-seater workhorse with go-anywhere ability but still crave the sophistication, convenience and refinement of a conventional car, the latest Dacia Duster Cargo has style in abundance.
While there is little to tell apart the standard Duster from its Cargo sibling beyond the opaque rear windows, opening the tailgate reveals a spacious 1149-litres of space from a completely wooden load floor, sturdy mesh bulkhead and four lashing points to secure items.
The load length at floor is 1345mm, while the width between the wheel arches is 1000kg.
A choice of two engines will be made available, including a mild hybrid 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine generating 128bhp. It will also make use of a new Hybrid 155 engine which combines a 109bhp four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors.
This makes the Hybrid 155 the more powerful of the two engine options (153bhp) but is also the more frugal, achieving 59mpg on a combined cycle.
Both engines allow for similar payloads with the 1.2-litre coming in at 410kg and the 1.5-litre Hybrid allowing for 430kg. Max braked towing weight is 1500kg for the 1.2-litre and 750kg for the Hybrid.
The Dacia Duster Cargo is the second LCV offering in the Romanian marque’s range alongside the pint-sized electric Dacia Spring Cargo.
The company also previously offered a conventional small van based on the Renault Kangoo – the Dacia Dokker – in Europe until recently.
