2026 Maxus T60 MAX: Everything You Need To Know
Maxus may be one of the younger brands to have set up shop in the UK, but the recent launch of the updated Maxus T60 MAX – one of two pick-up trucks in its line-up – shows firm isn’t wasting time in getting established.
Indeed, the Chinese marque – which rose from the embers of defunct firm LDV after buying its intellectual rights, including the Maxus nameplate – differs from direct rivals like Ford, Vauxhall and Peugeot by being predominantly focused on the commercial vehicle market.
With vans and pick-up trucks as its bread and butter, Maxus have gone to the effort of marking its presence in all corners in the van space with the Maxus eDeliver 3, Maxus eDeliver 5, Maxus Deliver 7 and Maxus Deliver 9.
Moreover, it offers not one but two full-size pick-up trucks – the Maxus T60 MAX and Maxus eTerron 9 – while you might still be able to get your hands on the latter’s predecessor, the T90 EV, too.
Here we’ll focus on the Maxus T60 MAX, which is pitched directly at the Toyota Hilux, Isuzu D-Max and new GWM POER300 as leaning closer towards completing workhorse duties and making light work of heavy off-road terrain.
Can it dig its tyres in and muscle itself among the class best?

Why Offer Two Similarly Sized Pick-Up Trucks?
Having two models vying for sales in the same size bracket might seem a touch foolish, but there is logic to Maxus’ strategy.
Having already made a little bit of history with the two-wheel drive Maxus T90 EV as the first electric pick-up truck to launch in the UK, the new (and much improved) Maxus eTerron 9 followed suit by being the first four-wheel drive electric pick-up truck to arrive on these shores.
However, in a class where torquey pulling power, uncompromised payload capacity and endurance are key, Maxus accepts electric power is a harder sell to your average pick-up truck customer than one after an SUV.
As such, the eTerron 9 and T60 MAX – despite both going after the likes of the Ford Ranger et al. – are positioned very differently. The former is lavishly appointed, packs over 400bhp and goes 267 miles before needing a recharge, but sacrifices some payload for the privilege.
The Maxus T60 MAX, on the other hand, is the conventional pick-up truck option. That means you’ll find a diesel engine under the bonnet, it has more durable materials to deflect rockier roads and goes toe-to-toe with the best for load carrying ability.

The Maxus T60 MAX is solely available as a Double Cab only, nudging it closer towards the more family and lifestyle-oriented corner of the market without entirely diluting its commercial capabilities.
In terms of outright size, the T60 MAX has a minor advantage in its dimensions, as evidenced by its visibly muscular shoulder line and chunky profile that gives it a commanding presence on the road.
At 5395mm long, the T60 MAX has a few precious millimetres over the Ford Ranger and several more over the Toyota Hilux, though you’ll find this might be to your expense if you can’t find two back-to-back parking space in the supermarket to accommodate its real estate.
Curiously however, the T60 MAX shirks that external superiority inside the load bay, where its 1485mm length is substantially down on the class-leading 1638mm available with the Ranger. On the plus side, it is deeper than most, while it comes with a tailgate lift assist and side step for convenient access.
Passengers are well catered for in the cabin too with generous head and legroom available all round, while three adults can be seated comfortably in the back.
Though not class-leading, the T60 MAX remains competitive with its payload capacity of 1050kg, while it offers the maximum legal permissible 3500kg for towing too.

The most recent update to the Maxus T60 MAX has prompted the Chinese firm to get a bit adventurous with its choice of engine by plumping for the same 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine as found in the top-end Maxus Deliver 9 large van.
By having Maxus select the most potent version of the 1996cc engine, the T60 MAX confidently packs a meaty 213bhp under your right foot.
By contrast, similarly sized four-cylinder engines offered by rivals seem measly in comparison with the Ford Ranger and Volkswagen Amarok offering 168bhp, the Isuzu D-Max 1.9TD generating 161bhp and the 2.4-litre Toyota Hilux lagging on 150bhp.
Big power translates to ample torque too with 500Nm available low down in the rev range at 2800rpm ensuring the T60 MAX has plenty of pulling power, the job of keeping a hold on the grunt delegated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The compromise can be found in the running costs, however, with the T60 MAX proving less CO2 efficient than the Ranger and Amarok, while fuel economy – though not officially quoted – is likely to be in the low to mid-30s.

It couldn’t be any simpler to understand the Maxus T60 MAX’s specification levels since there is just a single engine choice mated to just one possible trim level.
As with other Maxus models, the T60 MAX is generously kitted out, with some well-judged features going towards the understatedly attractive exterior design where modern-looking slender headlights glare among rugged black detailing on the large front grille, wheelarches and side-steps.
Step inside and the T60 MAX presents a more premium aesthetic than you might expect for a pick-up truck. Two large screens behind the steering wheel and on the dashboard are neatly housed in one casing, while the gear selector can be found high on the centre console fascia.
Some smart touches on the air-vents and multi-tonal materials are attractive, though it may make you think twice about trapsing any hint of mud into the cabin.
Standard equipment on the Maxus T60 MAX, includes:
