The CV Show 2019 was another massive success as visitors flocked in their thousands to see a fantastic range of brand new vans. Vansdirect picks out ten of the very best new vans from the CV Show 2019!
The Commercial Vehicle Show 2019 was a sell out for the fifth successive year, with more than 20,000 in attendance to see all of the latest additions to the UK new van market. Here are our 10 best new vans from the CV Show 2019!
There was an updated version of the top of the range Toyota Hilux Invincible X pick-up on display at the CV Show 2019, with the new Toyota Hilux pick-up getting increased safety technology across the range and the new top spec Invincible X model getting a tweaked trim level which includes grey smoked chrome for all of the following features: upper front grille surround, fog lamp bezels, door and tailgate handles, door mirror casings, front and rear under-runs and rear bumper corners. The Toyota Hilux Invincible X certainly caught the eye at this year’s event.
The award winning Toyota Proace medium van has been joined by a smaller sibling in the form of the Toyota Proace City van. Look familiar? That’s because it is based on the International Van of the Year 2019 winning trio, the Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Vauxhall Combo vans so we know it has a guaranteed recipe for success and appears as a shrunk down version of the larger Proace medium van.
Volkswagen vans are set to bring their first electric van to the UK market and here it is! In partnership with tuning company ABT, they have developed an all-electric version of the Volkswagen Caddy small van. The Volkswagen e-Caddy which is set to join the market later this year offers a range of approximately 140 miles, whilst load volume is hardly effected from standard VW Caddy vans.
Volkswagen vans focused heavily on electric vans at the CV Show 2019, with their partnership with ABT also being utilised in the development of the Volkswagen Transporter based electric van labelled the e-Transporter. The Volkswagen e-Transporter will join the UK market early on in 2020 and will be available with the choice of one or two battery packs delivering ranges of 134 miles and 250 miles respectively, with maximum payload sitting at 1,186kg.
The UK’s best-selling new van has added another string to its bow with the introduction of a plug-in hybrid model. The Ford Transit Custom PHEV has been years in development and trials and will finally be available to buy at the back end of 2019. The Ford Transit Custom PHEV has a 30 mile electric range and a 1.0-litre Ecoboost petrol engine to act as a range extender and becomes the first van of its kind in the medium van market.
Peugeot vans sprung a massive surprise at this year’s event with the reveal of the Peugeot Boxer electric van, which is so new that details are still incredibly limited at this time. An all-electric range of 141 miles has been quoted on standard length models, increasing to 169 miles on longer versions.
PSA didn’t stop with the Peugeot Boxer electric van, they also revealed an all-electric version of the Citroen Relay large van. As was the case for the Peugeot, details are sparse at this stage but expect very similar ranges to its sister van when they both join the market at some point in 2020.
The facelifted Ford Ranger pick-up was displayed at the CV Show 2019, however it will be the performance model of this very pick-up which will get the headlines in the form of the Ford Ranger Raptor. The bold and outlandish Raptor pick-up has been described as a factory-built high-performance off-road pick-up truck. It has an adapted suspension, numerous driving modes, a ten-speed automatic transmission and some fantastic styling both inside and out to really make it stand out from the crowd.
Vans don’t come much more iconic than the Ford Transit van, with the latest model getting its UK debut at the event. The latest model is a facelift rather than an overhaul, however the updates have comprehensively improved the iconic large van, allowing it to carry up to 80kg more weight in the back. The new Ford Transit van also features mild hybrid technology for the very first time, in a van which Ford vans have labelled as the ”smartest and most productive Transit van ever”.
In top spot at the UK’s largest event of its kind rightly goes to the British-built all-new Vauxhall Vivaro van. The Vauxhall Vivaro has parted ways with the Renault Trafic van and now shares a platform with the award winning Citroen Dispatch, Peugeot Expert and Toyota Proace vans and the result is a maximum payload of 1,400kg and a towing capacity of 2,500kg. 200kg and 500kg more than the outgoing model respectively, whilst levels of technology and comfort are also better than ever before.
