Mercedes vans again led the way in the FN50 van reliability survey, with the Mercedes Sprinter winning the most reliable van award!
Not only did the Mercedes Sprinter vantake the prize for most reliable van, Mercedes vans also continued their reign as the most reliable van manufacturer on the market. A huge driver behind the success of Mercedes-Benz vans is the focus on uptime, labelled as the ‘most connected van the world has ever seen’, the new Mercedes Sprinter comes with Mercedes Pro Connect and provides real-time updates directly from the van that can be used to monitor key criteria and plan maintenance.
The success of the Mercedes Sprinter is even more remarkable when you consider that this success was based on the outgoing model, with the all-new model bringing improved infotainment, improved fuel economy and enhanced payload. The new model is sure to take some shifting from the top spot in next year’s awards.
If things are to go wrong with your Mercedes van than you’ll also realise the benefits of Mobilovan, which is a free breakdown and repair service operated by the brand, with dealer support 24/7.
Mercedes vans were proud of the award, with UK managing director, Steve Bridge commenting on the reliability of the brand’s vans: ”We are so proud that our vehicles deliver the promise we make to our customers; we work hard to keep their businesses moving, so to be acknowledged as the most reliable manufacturer and have the most reliable van proves that we deliver on that promise.”
At the top of the manufacturer table, Volkswagen vans and Ford vans have swapped places from last year’s awards, taking second and third places in the manufacturer’s table respectively. Peugeot vans moved up three places to fourth in the table, whilst Citroen vans also moved up a place to fifth. Vauxhall vans fell two places to take sixth spot, whilst Nissan vans moved up two places to seventh, leapfrogging Renault vans on the way as they fell to eighth spot. Fiat vans fell one place to ninth in the table, whilst Toyota vans propped up the table, regaining tenth spot.
With the Mercedes Sprinter van taking first place in the table, the Volkswagen Transporter moved up one place in the table to take second. The Mercedes-Benz Vito moved up three places to take third most reliable van, with the Vauxhall Vivaro moving up one spot to fourth and the Citroen Berlingo moving up one place to fifth. The Citroen Berlingo is the only French representative in the top five, however like the Sprinter this survey is based on the outgoing model, with the new model already scooping up the International Van of the Year 2019 prize alongside the Vauxhall Combo and Peugeot Partner.
The Volkswagen Crafter and Ford Transit Connect were new top ten entries in sixth and seventh places in the table respectively. The outgoing Peugeot Partner regained eighth place in the table whilst in ninth and tenth were two big fallers from last year in the form of the Ford Transit (falling five places) and Volkswagen Caddy (falling eight places).
