Ford Transit Custom PHEV trials expanded
Ford vans have announced that in conjunction with the ongoing trials of the Ford Transit Custom PHEV van in London, they will be expanding trials to Spain, with Valencia the next city to trial the new vans.

Ford vans realise that no two cities are alike and hence are expanding the new van trials to better understand the benefits of running van fleets on primarily electric power. Valencia is home to one of the largest Ford vans manufacturing bases in Europe, so it may be no surprise to some that the brand have expanded the trials in the City.
President and CEO of Ford Europe, Steven Armstrong commented on the expanding of the new van trials and commented on the dedication and innovation of Ford vans to providing solutions to urban mobility encounters:
"At Ford, we are committed to tackling urban mobility challenges, moving people and delivering goods and services through innovation and technology, as no two cities are alike, it is vital that we look at the mobility issue from a variety of perspectives. Our research in Valencia will help us gain a meaningful understanding of the benefits that small and medium fleets running primarily on electric power can bring."
Ford have invested a staggering £8.1 billion on electrifying their vehicles, this will include a total of 40 Ford electric vehicles on a global scale, which will include 16 full battery electric vehicles by the year 2022. Emphasis in Valencia will be concerning the usage of small fleets and medium fleets of Ford Transit Custom PHEVs that are driven by an electric motor solely with a target zero-emission range in excess of 30 miles. The petrol engine in the new van has the sole purpose of being a range extender.
Currently in London, there are 20 Ford Transit Custom PHEV vans in operation for the 12-month new van trial, which are working with Transport for London and a range of van fleet users, including construction firms, courier services and even the Metropolitan Police.
Production of the Transit Custom PHEV on a larger scale is expected in 2019 as part of the recently face-lifted Ford Transit Custom range!
