The UK’s largest van and pick-up event is fast approaching, Vansdirect previews what to expect from the major new van brands at the CV Show 2019, including the UK debut of the all-new Vauxhall Vivaro van!
The largest event in the new van industry will take place from 30th April to 2nd May at the NEC in Birmingham and will feature different exhibitors in their hundreds including a selection of major new van manufacturers displaying new innovations and products. In excess of 20,000 visitors are again expected at this year’s event, here are some of the expected highlights!
Citroen vans will have their full model line-up on display at this year’s event with focus expected to be drawn to the International Van of the Year 2019 award winner, the new Citroen Berlingo van, however the Citroen Dispatch and Citroen Relay will also be on display.
Fiat vans are promising to display the Fiat Ducato in both ambulance and tipper form, as well as what the brand are describing as a Panini van. We can only speculate at this point what the Panini van involves, our guess at this point is hot sandwiches rather than stickers!
Once again Ford vans will have a prominent presence at the CV Show, giving a UK debut to the facelifted Ford Transit van. The display will highlight all of the technical advances in the modified model and also includes a live display inside the NEC of the new automatic parking function. You’ll also find the Ford Transit Custom on the stand which has new engines and technology, as well as no fewer than three versions of the facelifted Ford Ranger pick-up, one of which will be the Ford Ranger Raptor performance pick-up!
There’s a new option available for the MAN TGE large van in the form of the ‘Flatframe Chassis Cowl’, which is 190mm lower than the standard MAN TGE chassis cab. The new model is ideal for low-loader style box and Luton van conversions, as well as motorhomes and campers. MAN will also display a UK converted minibus, based on the larger 5.0-tonne TGE, the minibus will be a 17-seater as standard with various wheelchair variants also available.
Mitsubishi vans will be using the CV Show 2019 to display Commercial models of the Mitsubishi Shogun Sport and the new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV plug-in hybrid. The new Outlander PHEV commercial vehicle has sharper steering and a new engine, whilst the Mitsubishi L200 based Shogun Sport Commercial is now available in the UK, replacing the Mitsubishi Shogun Commercial which has been discontinued.
Much like Citroen vans, the focus from Peugeot vans will primarily be on their new award winning small van the Peugeot Partner. Already winner of multiple awards alongside the Citroen Berlingo and Vauxhall Combo vans, the CV Show 2019 will be a chance for potential buyers to view the i-Cockpit cab design of the Partner amongst other features.
Toyota vans are using the CV Show 2019 as an opportunity to display a brand new small van. The brand refers to the new van as a car derived van, however it is not based on any model in the Toyota car range, instead it is Toyota’s version of the small van which is already on sale as the Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Vauxhall Combo, the new van will wear the Toyota Proace City badge.
Amongst the biggest news of the CV Show 2019 is the global debut of the all-new Vauxhall Vivaro van, with the brand returning to the event for the first time since 2015! The new model is based on the same platform as the Citroen Dispatch, Peugeot Expert and Toyota Proace medium vans and promises improved payload and towing capability in comparison with the Renault Trafic based model it is replacing in the range. The CV Show will also be the first chance for many potential buyers to get hands-on with the new Vauxhall Combo small van.
Volkswagen vans gave a UK debut to the Volkswagen e-Crafter van at the CV Show 2018, this year will be the turn of the smaller Volkswagen e-Caddy and Volkswagen e-Transporter electric vans. In addition to these new electric vans, Volkswagen vans will also display a wheelchair-accessible Volkswagen Caddy Life conversion as well as the latest Volkswagen Amarok Aventura 2 special edition pick-up with 258ps, a short-wheelbase Volkswagen Transporter kombi and a Volkswagen Crafter Mobile Service Clinic. The brand are also planning on displaying some customer conversions, meaning no fewer than 14 Volkswagen vans will be on display, their largest figure since returning to the CV show four years ago.
