5 reasons to buy a Renault Trafic

5 reasons to buy a Renault Trafic

The Renault Trafic first launched in the UK almost 35 years ago and is one of the most popular medium vans on the market. It's now passed 200,000 UK sales over three model generations.

Given a facelift in 2014, it has since won consecutive WhatVan! 'Medium Van of the Year' awards, in 2015 and 2016.

Here we look at the top five reasons to choose the Renault Trafic as your medium van.

Flexible cargo capacity

The smallest version of the Renault van offers a load volume of 5.2 cubic metres, with a payload of over a tonne. The Business+ models upwards feature a load-through flap in the bulkhead which enables the loading of items up to 3.7m in length. Even the small wheelbase version of the Trafic can accommodate three Europallets and an 8x4 sheet!

Competitive fuel economy

In terms of fuel economy, the Renault Trafic may not be class-leading but it's seriously competitive. A return of 43.5mpg on the combined cycle is efficient for a medium van, while Renault's 'ECO mode' button reduces fuel consumption by 10% depending on traffic conditions, road type and load.

Excellent features

Loaded with convenient (and luxury!) features, the Renault van has air conditioning with a pollen filter for those who suffer from hay fever. There is 90-litres of storage space in the cabin, some of which is under the passenger bench seat. There's a 12v electric socket situated on the front facia next to a 7" touchscreen incorporating satellite navigation, DAB Radio, Bluetooth, USB and an Aux-in port.

Useful driving aids

The Renault Trafic has some useful features that make driving easier. A wide-view mirror attached to the back of the passenger-side sun visor doubles the angle of vision to the rear-left of the Trafic, while Grip Xtend enables greater control of the front wheels to optimise traction on difficult terrain. There are also rear parking sensors which alert the driver before a potential accident.

It's a functional mobile office

If you have a lot of paperwork to complete on the move, then the Renault Trafic is the perfect choice. A fold-down passenger seat creates a work surface which can also safely hold a laptop while being able to turn it to face either the driver or passenger. Finally, a smartphone cradle holds your device in a safe but accessible position.
