Vansdirect at the new SsangYong Musso pick-up launch

There's a new pick-up in the UK market and Vansdirect was there to oversee the launch of the brand new SsangYong Musso!

 

 

New SsangYong Musso pick-up

SsangYong pulled out all of the stops, with the entire new Musso pick-up range on display, with four different trim levels ranging from EX up to top of the range Rhino models. The pick-up has already raised eyebrows by offering a class leading 7 year, 150,000 mile warranty, whilst a joint class leasing 3.5-tonnes towing capacity is also impressive. However the impressive features don't stop there, the Musso is the only pick-up in its class that can tow 3.5-tonnes and carry in excess of a one-tonne payload whilst doing so!

 

 

Fantastic carrying capabilities

The new SsangYong Musso is built for carrying, with a tremendously strong ladder frame chassis providing a brilliant platform for towing as mentioned above. The load area of the new pick-up is also surprisingly impressive, with space for 1,011 litres of cargo and large enough to carry a full-sized Euro pallet. The Musso also boasts a substantial gross train weight (GTW) at 6.45 tonne for manual models and 6.75 tonne for automatics, in Layman's terms the Musso is the only pick-up on the market than can still carry its full payload whilst towing a 3.5-tonne trailer (automatic models).

 

 

Exterior

The new Musso is based on the brand's Rexton SUV, giving it a noticeable shoulder wing grille at the front, whilst still retaining the durable ladder frame chassis from the outgoing Musso pick-up. The shoulder wing grille gives the Musso a strong and strapping appearance, with the brand commenting that the exterior design is inspired by the 'dignified motion of nature.'

 

Interior

The new model gets a completely new interior, bringing it more in line with its competitors, with the cab area feeling similar to a premium SUV. The new Musso also offers improved levels of refinement whilst also feeling strong and durable enough to take on all of the challenges ahead. The comfortable interior excellently compliments the bold exterior styling.

 

4x4 in its blood

SsangYong have numerous years of experience in the area of all-wheel drive technology and the pick-up's four-wheel drive system makes use of this experience. The pick-up features part time 4x4 with power sent permanently to the back wheels, with front wheel drive dialled in electronically when necessary, with low and high ratios available depending on the demand of the off-road conditions.

 

Features

There were all four different trim levels on display, with a good level of spec available across the range. Base level EX models feature: Luxury cloth seats, remote central locking, front fog lights, rain sensing wipers, hill descent control, manual air con, DAB radio, bluetooth, 17-inch alloy wheels and active rollover protection. The other models get graphics specific to the trim level that they have opted for, top of the range Rhino models stand out with features exclusive to them, including: Numbered Limited Edition plaque, Indian Red or Space Black metallic paint, Grabber all terrain tyre, black rear roll bar with LED lights, black front skid plate, 20-inch black alloy wheels and dark tinted rear windows.
