The Toyota Land Cruiser Utility Commercial has been launched, so what do we know about the new van?
The latest addition to the Toyota vans range is available in both short and long-wheelbase versions with payloads up to 756kg and an impressive towing capacity of 3-tonnes. The SWB model is available as a three-door with dimensions of 4,395mm long and 1,830mm high, with both rear seats from the car model removed. The load area measures 1,574 litres, whilst payload sits at 593kg. The new van is powered by a 2.8-litre D-4D engine which delivers an output of 175ps and an impressive 420Nm of torque and is hooked to a six-speed manual gearbox.
The Long-wheelbase model is fitted with five doors and gets a total van length of 4,840mm and is also slightly taller at 1,845mm. Toyota vans have also added additional power to the additional size, with the LWB van given an additional 30Nm of torque over the SWB van.
The Toyota Land Cruiser Commercial isn’t your typical day to day van, however it has been adapted to be just that. The load area gets a non-slip flat floor tray from edge to edge, whereas the cabin area and load area is separated by a full height metal bulkhead with a mesh top segment which is fitted with a hatch for convenient access. Loading on SWB models is via the side-hinged tailgate or through either of the rear side doors on LWB models, rear windows are blanked out with panels matching the body colour of the new van.
As the name of the new van suggests, the Toyota Land Cruiser Commercial Utility is based on the standard Land Cruiser Utility, with a 700mm wading depth and 31 degrees approach angle outlining the capability of the new van. Standard features include: Air conditioning, adjustable head restraints, multi-terrain ABS, trailer sway control, cruise control and a six-speaker audio system.
