Still sceptical of the feasibility of electric vans for business use? Renault vans and the Renault Kangoo Z.E. 33 has gone some way to answer electric van critics at the recent MPG marathon!
Renault vans have claimed an official NEDC range of 170 miles on the new Renault Kangoo Z.E. 33, an improvement of over 60 percent on the previous model, which Renault vans say is equivalent to a range of 124 miles under real world conditions. However at a recently MPG marathon to test these figures, the new Renault Kangoo Z.E. 33 eclipsed the official range and energy consumption figures.
The MPG marathon was conducted over a 294 mile course, with the new Renault Kangoo Z.E. 33 van delivering an average energy consumption figure of 4.5 miles per kilowatt-hour of electricity. In layman’s terms that figure equates to ten percent higher than the official NEDC figure and a staggering 50 percent higher than the real world figure claimed by Renault vans!
The organisers of the MPG marathon event, also focused on the increasing feasibility of new electric vans, commenting:
”With the Renault Kangoo Van Z.E. achieving energy efficiency which could allow a range of 200 miles to a full charge and not to mention: near silent running, gearshift-free driving and zero tailpipe emissions. It is clear that battery electric van technology is proving itself to be a very viable alternative to a petrol or diesel model.”
Renault vans were predictably ecstatic with the results from the small van, believing the MPG marathon was proof “that it is possible not only to achieve but also to over exceed range figures, consuming even less energy and costing businesses even less money to run.”
The new Renault Kangoo Z.E. 33 is available in a variety of different body types, including: panel van, maxi panel van and crew cab variants, giving business users a whole host of flexibility and choice. The new Renault vans also profit from improved charging proficiencies, with it now taking 6 hours in conjunction with a new 32 amp charger. The new Renault Kangoo electric van can now stay on the road longer and also be off the road for less time!
Renault vans will release an all-electric Renault Master Z.E. early next year, to expand their electric vans range even further.
