Nissan vans target city fleets with new e-NV200

Nissan vans target city fleets with new e-NV200

Nissan vans are targeting the 'last-miles' urban delivery market with the new and improved Nissan e-NV200 electric van. The new 40kWh e-NV200 will appear at next month's CV Show 2018!

Nissan e-NV200 40kWh

Since officially going on sale in 2014, the Nissan e-NV200 has sold 15,000 units across Europe. However the electric van now has a larger battery, from 24kWh to 40kWh resulting in a 60 percent improvement on range capability which has increased from 110 miles to 174 miles on the NEDC. Even when tested on the more realistic WordWide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP), the Nissan e-NV200 still achieved a combined range figure of 125 miles and 188 miles for the city, ideal for the van's intended purpose.

Bigger battery doesn't mean less space

Nissan vans have reiterated that despite the increased battery power, the battery doesn't take up any more room than that of its predecessor, therefore load volume remains at an impressive 4.2 cubic metres. Nissan vans will also offer the new battery in the seven-seater electric taxi version of the e-NV200. Most of the remaining features from its predecessor remain as they were, apart from an improved navigation system which Nissan have said is better in regards to look, feel and also user experience.

Perfect for last-miles urban deliveries

Nissan vans are understandably excited by the prospects of the new and improved Nissan e-NV200 in a growing market, mainly due to the growth of online shopping and increased demand for faster deliveries, here's what their UK managing director Alex Smith had to say amount the e-NV200's prospects in the market:

"A third of all LCV journeys are made in urban areas, but 90-95% are currently made with diesel engines," he explained. "We'd like more to use electric motors. With the average LCV covering 13,000 miles per annum - equating to 50 miles per working day - urban deliveries can absolutely be made with an e-NV200. With running costs on average four times cheaper than diesel and lower service, maintenance and repair too, it's an environmental and economic win."
