The Volkswagen Crafter is a Large Van available across six different body styles branded in a different manner to the equivalent L2/H2 etc. designations.
As such, the VW Crafter is offered in Medium Wheelbase, Long Wheelbase and Long Wheelbase Maxi lengths, plus Normal Roof, High Roof and Super High Roof heights.
In all, the VW Crafter can be chosen in the following configurations: MWB/Normal (L2/H2), MWB/High (L2/H3), LWB/High (L3/H3), LWB/Super High (L3/H4), LWB Maxi/High (L4/H3), LWB Maxi/Super High (L4/H4).
The base MWB/Normal measures 5986mm in total length with a load length of 3450mm, while LWB models measure 6836mm in total length with a load length of 4300mm. The largest LWB Maxi measures 7391mm in total length and 4855mm in load length.
In terms of height, the Normal Roof is 2355mm, the High Roof is 2427mm and the Super High Roof is 2798mm.
The various configurations mean the VW Crafter can be specified with many different load sizes, from 9.9 cubic metres right up to 18.4 cubic metres. It makes the VW Crafter the most spacious model in the large van class based on the load bay.

The Volkswagen Crafter’s payload capacity is dependent on the body size chosen and which gross vehicle weight is applied, which in this case is either 3.5-tonnes or 5.0-tonnes.
The 5-tonne GVW Crafter offers the most generous payload capacity figures, with up to 2410kg available. In 3.5-tonne configuration, the Crafter is still among the class best, offering up to 1229kg.
The Volkswagen Crafter offers at least a 3000kg braked towing capacity across its range, rising to 3500kg for the rear-wheel drive versions.
