The Nissan Primastar is a Medium Van that is offered in two lengths and two heights – labelled L1/L2 and H1/2 – plus Crew Van versions too.
The Nissan Primastar measures 5080mm in standard L1 form, making it one of the longest models in the Medium Van class. The larger L2 extends to 5480mm, with most of the extra length in the wheelbase. Crew Van versions share the same external dimensions depending on whether you choose L1 or L2.
Built on the same platform as the Renault Trafic, the Primastar offers 5.8 cubic metres of load space in L1/H1 models, rising to 6.7 cubic metres in L2/H1 versions. This puts it among the most generous vans in its segment.
A bulkhead 'trap door' option adds extra practicality by extending load length from 2937mm to 4150mm when the passenger seat is folded. Ideal for long items such as timber or poles, it makes the Primastar especially versatile.
Where the Primastar differs from several rivals is its availability with an extended roof line, known as H2.
This significantly increases the height of the vehicle and therefore the cargo volume available.
This additional 515mm in height allows for a load bay of 7.75 cubic metres (L1/H2) or 8.9 cubic metres (L2/H2).
The Primastar comes with three front seats as standard, while the Crew Van - which can be selected in an L1 or L2 body size - adds a rear-seat bench to increase the number of occupants to six people.
The Crew Van L1 has 3.2 cubic metres of cargo room or 4.0 cubic metres in L2 guise. The Crew Van is not available with the taller H2 body style.

The Nissan Primastar offers a generous payload capacity compared to rivals in the Medium Van segment ranging from 742-1227kg for the standard L1/H1 body style.
This rises to 902-1125kg for L1/H2 models, while L2/H1 ranges from 916-1251kg. The largest L2/H2 models range from 866-1089kg for payload capacity.
The Nissan Primastar's towing capacity is dependent on the engine or powertrain you select, though it is notable for not having an electric version on sale.
The Primastar can manage a braked towing capacity of at least 2000kg, with most models capable of towing 2500kg.
