The Ford Transit Custom is a Medium Van offered in two lengths – designated L1 and L2 – coupled with one height option, known as H2. It is also available as a Crew Van, known as Multicab.
The Transit Custom boasts some of the most generous dimensions in its class, with L1 (5050mm) and L2 (5450mm) models both stretching over five metres. The L1 offers 5.8 cu m of load space, while the L2 extends this to 6.8 cu m, making it one of the largest medium vans available.
Both versions include a handy bulkhead load-through hatch, allowing longer items to extend into the passenger footwell. This increases load length at floor from 2602mm to 3050mm in the L1, and from 3002mm to 3450mm in the L2.
When compared directly with other medium vans, the Ford Transit Custom ranks among the class leaders with its internal dimensions.
While it does without an H2 version like some rivals, it is the tallest H1 specification medium van in its class (1968mm), while the 1030mm sliding rear door is a wider aperture than the Vauxhall Vivaro.
It also has a wider load bay than models like the Vivaro, Renault Trafic and Mercedes-Benz Vito at 1777mm.

The Ford Transit Custom offers wide range of payload capacities, allowing you to select the model that suits your needs.
All but a handful of trims offer a payload capacity of more than one-tonne, with the entry-level 2.0TDI 110PS offering the highest maximum of 1407kg.
Ford designates nomenclature to its models to signify each model's gross vehicle weight - 280 (for 2800kg), 320 (3225kg) and 340 (3350kg).
The towing capacity of the Ford Transit Custom varies depending on which model you choose, but each trim is available with a braked max of between 2000 and 2800kg.
