Volkswagen ID. Buzz Electric Van Review 2024

The first all-electric van from Volkswagen, the ID. Buzz Cargo is truly something special. Building on the iconic ‘campervan’ design with the latest technology, it offers both fun and practicality. Perfect for the modern mobile business.

Volkswagen ID.Buzz driving range

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo offers an electric driving range of up to 254 miles (WLTP), powered by a 77kWh battery. An electric motor at the rear produces 150kW of power which is sent directly to the wheels.

Volkswagen ID.Buzz performance, power, and drive

Aptly named, the ID. Buzz Cargo is full of energy when it comes to performance. In addition to a generous electric driving range with each charge, it offers 204PS and up to 310Nm torque.

Together, this brings you instant acceleration for a smooth, responsive drive. With the absence of an engine, you’ll also enjoy much quieter performance and less road noise.

Matched with a low centre of gravity and a small turning circle of just 11.09 metres, this makes the ID. Buzz Cargo easy and practical to drive. Whether it's navigating busy city streets or getting ready to unload.

Reaching 0-62mph in 10.2 seconds, it’s still pretty agile, and it can even tow trailer loads of up to 1,000kg with an optional device fitted. As with other members of the ID. family, the ID. Buzz Cargo is built on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) platform. Meaning you can expect the highest levels of quality when it comes to technology and driving experience.

Volkswagen ID.Buzz cabin and interior

Sustainably built from the ground up, the ID. Buzz’s eco-conscious nature continues inside the cabin. Instead of real leather, it features substitute materials offering a similar quality.

The steering wheel features polyurethane, while the seats and floor covers are made with recycled materials. The best part? All this comes at no cost to style or visual appeal.

The ID. Buzz Cargo offers a range of modern features to make driving it a joy. These include LED interior lighting, illuminated mirrors in the sun visors, and black decorative trims. Two passengers can sit comfortably on the standard double bench in the heated front seats.

In the cargo area, a robust floor covering protects the interior with each load, along with a fixed bulkhead. Back in the driver’s cockpit, a storage concept designed for commercial use creates the perfect set-up for your office. Here, you can keep all items handy, from work gloves and paperwork to drink bottles, lunch boxes, and more.

As an option, the ID. Buzz Cargo Box (available when ordering with a single front passenger seat) offers even more storage. This removable box features a spacious upper compartment in which you can store laptops, folders, clipboards and more.

Volkswagen ID.Buzz dimensions and load space

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz defies expectations when it comes to size. Its compact dimensions allow for a sleeker look on the outside, while still offering plenty of loading volume within.

Dimensions for the model are 4,712mm (length), 2,211mm (width), and 1,937mm (height). The distance between the wheels is 2,989mm while the load compartment floor length measures 2,208mm (with tailgate).

Two Euro pallets can be fitted into the cargo area side-by-side, with an overall loading volume of 3.9 cubic metres. That’s plenty to store a couple of large boxes too. There’s also a fixed partition between the driver’s cab and loading area which can be fitted with a window and load opening if preferred.
