Fiat e-Ducato Electric Van Review 2024

The Fiat e-Ducato offers a 100% electric van that helps you boost your eco-credentials and economise your operations.

Fiat e-Ducatoriving range

With up to 230 miles (WLTP) range at your service, the Fiat e-Ducato offers plenty of power to get where you need to go. Choose from two battery options: a three-module 47kWh battery (142 miles WLTP) or a five-module 79kWh battery (230 miles WLTP).

Fiat e-Ducato power, performance, and drive

With the Fiat e-Ducato, you’ll enjoy a driving experience that’s both calmer and more confident. As well as a reasonable 230-mile maximum range, it also features a recovery mode for added peace of mind.

This is a unique feature that allows the van to continue driving even after the battery has seriously depleted. When the battery nears zero, a notification alerts the driver before engaging recovery mode. This way, you can continue your journey to the nearest charging point for a quick boost.

You can also switch between three driving modes to optimise performance. Normal prioritises performance and economy equally, while ECO maximises long distance. Meanwhile, Power mode is ideal for heavy usage, such as carrying heavier loads.

Both battery options produce 280Nm torque, enabling a maximum speed of up between 56-62mph. This is because all models are fitted with a speed limiter, so you can transport your load safely and securely.

As an all-electric automatic van, the Fiat e-Ducato doesn’t emit any engine noise, so you’ll notice it’s also a lot smoother and quieter to drive.

Fiat e-Ducato cabin and interior

The Fiat e-Ducato is based on a pre-facelift version of the Fiat Ducato. This gives a more minimalistic and simplified interior, though that’s not to say it’s not practical.

In the driver’s cabin, you’ll enjoy a comfortable driving position with good visibility. The cloth upholstery seat is height-adjustable for added comfort. Plus, there’s a handy cup holder to keep your coffee close at hand.

The driver’s seat also features in-built lumbar support to keep you comfy during longer periods behind the wheel. The armrest will also come in handy when you find the chance for a quick break.

With the rake-adjustable steering wheel, you can create the perfect setup. This also houses multiple radio controls enabling you to easily switch between stations on the go.

In the load space area, you’ll find LED interior lighting which will come in handy for loading and unloading in low light conditions.

It may keep things simple, although the Fiat e-Ducato offers a perfectly functional interior designed to aid your workday.

Fiat e-Ducato dimensions and load space

With M, L and XL lengths on offer and H1, H2, and H3 options, the Fiat e-Ducato is sure to give you the space you need. You can view all of the combinations available in the table below:

Fiat e-Ducato technology

As standard, the Fiat e-Ducato offers a generous amount of equipment to enhance your drive. This includes a 5.0” touchscreen infotainment system, complete with DAB radio and Bluetooth.

Automatic climate control ensures the cabin temperature is always optimal. Meanwhile, the tablet holder and USB charging ports will help look after your gadgets.

The smaller 47kWh battery features a 7kW onboard charger, while the 79kWh battery features an 11kW charger.

For tech lovers, the Technico trim is perhaps slightly more appealing. You’ll get a larger 7.0” touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Parking will also be made easier with a rear camera and reversing sensors.

In more inclement weather, you’ll enjoy better visibility with front fog lights and LED daytime running lights. Inside, the ‘Techno’ dashboard with chrome trimmings adds a touch of style.

The Fiat e-Ducato is also fitted with a range of driver assistance features as standard. These are designed to maximise safety and convenience on the road, allowing you to drive with confidence.

There’s a Lane Departure Warning System, Advanced Emergency Braking, and Traffic Sign Recognition. You’ll also get High Beam Recognition, automatic lights and wipers, plus Electronic Stability Control.

These features are all guaranteed to offer you a smoother driving experience. Not to mention help protect your van from accidental damage.

Fiat e-Ducato running cost and value

According to Fiat, you could save up to as much as £13,000 on fuel costs over 95,000 miles with the e-Ducato. This means it significantly cheaper to run that its diesel predecessor.

Since you won’t be paying road tax or Low Emission Zone (LEZ) charges, you can also enjoy more daily savings.

This just leaves your charging and maintenance costs to think about. As an electric van, the Fiat e-Duato is relatively low maintenance with fewer moving parts that could need replacing.

With the Fiat 5-5-5 package, you can cover all bases for added peace of mind. This offers a five-year warranty, five years’ free servicing and five years’ roadside recovery. The battery itself is covered by a separate warranty (eight years for the 47kWh, and 10 for the 79kWh), so you can enjoy your e-Ducato for many years to come.

Overall, Fiat estimates the e-Ducato will be around 40% cheaper to maintain than the diesel version. So, if you’re looking for an electric van that won’t put you out of pocket in the long run, the Fiat e-Ducato will make an ideal choice.

Fiat e-Ducato charging

A key requirement for electric van drivers is fast charging so you can stay on the move – a need the e-Ducato understands perfectly. Developed over years of testing using real driving data, the e-Ducato offers fast, easy charging. All to help you minimise downtime and maximise productivity.

Charge your battery at home using a domestic socket or wall-mounted charging box, at work, or on the go at one of 53,000 stations nationwide.

Of course, different speed chargers will provide different results. A standard 7kW charger will give you a full charge in 7hrs 50 minutes. This is more suitable for overnight charging to make sure your e-Ducato is ready to go the next day.

If you’re more pressed for time, there are some quicker options. A fast 11kW AC charger will give you a boost in 4hrs 50 minutes, while a rapid 50kW DC charger will do the job in just under an hour.

Note that charging times may vary depending on whether you choose the three or five-module battery and the method you use.
