Vauxhall Movano and Renault Master 2019 facelifts

Vauxhall vans and Renault vans have both revealed facelifted versions of the largest vans in their ranges in the form of the almost identical Vauxhall Movano and Renault Master vans. Our team of van experts at Vansdirect takes a look at both new large vans!

Vauxhall vans have revealed a facelifted version of their Vauxhall Movano large van, unlike the new Vauxhall Vivaro van which is all-new development and based on a PSA platform used by the Citroen Dispatch and Peugeot Expert vans, the Vauxhall Movano keeps its collaboration with the Renault Master for the meantime and is a facelift of the existing van.

The new Vauxhall Movano van has received a new sharper appearance and upgraded safety equipment to bring the large van in line with rivals in the segment. The facelifted Vauxhall van receives a new front end and sharper lights with an LED signature similar to that found on models in the Vauxhall car range.

A huge Griffin badge dominates the grille of the new large van, with a chrome strip leading from it to the lights of the van, there's also new tail-light clusters at the rear of the new van.

The cabin is where the Vauxhall Movano van has received its most significant updates with a raft of the latest safety technology and connectivity features. A particular highlight is that the brand's Intellilink 5.0 navigation system is now available on the Vauxhall van, the system features both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, also available for the first time on the large Vauxhall van is wireless phone charging.

Comfort in the cabin is also improved over the outgoing model, with optional comfort seats with adjustable lumbar support for the driver and passengers, there's also the availability of a truck-style air-cushioned driver's seat available for those who tackle longer distance driving on a daily basis.

New safety technology featured includes a new rear-vision camera which displays live images onto a 7-inch touchscreen where you'd usually find the rear view mirror. Blind spot alerts and lane departure warning also help to keep your van on the road, whilst all new Vauxhall Movano vans come with side wind assist as part of the stability control system.

The facelifted Vauxhall Movano van is available as a panel van or chassis cab in four lengths and three heights, with the largest model available having the ability to carry five Europallets. Maximum load volume stands at 17.0 cubic metres, with maximum payload at 2.1-tonnes.

Alongside a facelift to the Vauxhall Movano van, Renault vans have also facelifted its sister van, the Renault Master. The new Renault van gets more efficient engines than was previously the case, a new front end and improved on board technology.

The new front end of the Renault Master van includes C-shaped daytime running lights which take inspiration from the Renault car range, alongside a new nose design. There also a new upright grille and bonnet line featuring additional chrome trim, with Renault vans now also offering a grey paint option as an alternative to the standard white.

Like the Vauxhall Movano, it is the cabin where the Renault Master van has received the most significant enhancements. There are design elements from the Renault car range, whilst the multimedia screen has been moved down to the dashboard of the Master van, compared to the current model where the screen is located where the rear view mirror would normally sit.

There's now also more storage in the cabin than ever before, including additional lidded storage and pull-out tray within the dash above the glovebox of the van (this unfortunately won't feature on right hand drive models), there's also the availability of wireless phone charging.

There's a whole host of kit available on the new Renault Master van, with a full range of infotainment systems including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. New technology for the Master van includes rear-view assist which uses a camera mounted above the rear doors to project a view of the road behind on a screen in place of a rear-view mirror. To improve stability in high winds, side wind assist is also included, as well as blind spot warning and front park assist.

The new Renault Master van receives the latest generation of 2.3-litre dCi twin-turbo diesel engine with outputs of 180ps available and torque up to 400Nm, the load area of the van remains largely unchanged with payload figures and load volumes the same as before, meaning up to 17.0 cubic metres available on largest models.
