Vansdirect sponsored Louis Foster takes maiden race win at Donington!
Louis Foster followed his pair of rookie successes in Brands Hatch earlier this month by taking his first outright win on the second weekend of the Ginetta Junior Championship season, the Vansdirect sponsored driver continued his excellent start to the campaign!
Staying on course was the order of the day, as the first race of the weekend went underway under challenging weather conditions, with the damp conditions sending a number of cars off the track at Redgate Corner. Foster was not one of those effected by conditions as he concluded the opening lap in the lead. At the end of the following lap, Foster went wide, allowing Adam Smalley and Luke Browning to take first and second positions respectively.
However, Foster continued to handle the tricky conditions whilst regaining second place after Smalley spun halfway through the race and it was second place where Foster finished, under three seconds behind Browning in first. Second place represented a third consecutive top rookie finish for Vansdirect sponsored Louis Foster!
In the second race of the weekend it was Browning and Smalley setting the early pace, with Browning leading the way all the way from start to finish and Smalley taking second place. In behind the pairing it was an intense battle for third place, with no fewer than seven cars fighting corner to corner for the position. With positions changing by the corner, Foster again made his way onto the podium, holding off stiff competition from Ginetta Junior Scholarship winner James Taylor for the best rookie prize (in fifth overall).
Third in the second race of the weekend represented a fourth consecutive top rookie finish for Vansdirect sponsored Louise Foster, with all eyes then turning to the third and final race of the weekend on the following day.
The final race of the weekend was another action packed affair, with Smalley taking the early lead at Redgate corner. Foster wasn't far behind in third place, with no fewer than six cars in a train vying for the lead. Lap four commenced with Smalley in the lead, in a thrilling race the six cars involved at the head of the field changed positions at almost every corner. In the following lap it was disaster for Smalley, as contact with Fin Green sent him into the gravel, ending his race and weekend early.
Foster took the lead ahead of the winner of the weekend's previous two races, Luke Browning. Foster and Browning pulled away from the chasing pack and battled at every corner for the remainder of the exhilarating race, Foster delivered a phenomenal performance to fight off multiple challenges from the valiant Browning to take his maiden overall race win and his fifth consecutive rookie win!
