Louis Foster secures two podium finishes at Croft

Louis Foster secures two podium finishes at Croft

Vansdirect sponsored Louis Foster battled with the elements to achieve two podium finishes at Croft and bring home another impressive haul of championship points in the British F4 title race!

Race Weekend Four - Croft

After a challenging weekend at Thruxton, Louis Foster took a slender five point championship lead to the fourth race weekend of the British F4 Championship at Croft circuit.

The Double R racer missed the majority of the practice sessions having taken his final GCSE exam on Friday, Louis then needed to learn the track quicker than his competitors. Despite this, he managed third position on the grid for race one, setting a time of 1:19.933s only 0.386 seconds behind the leader. The Vansdirect sponsored racer set a second fastest time of 1:19.967, meaning he secured a front row start for the last race of the weekend.

Race One - Podium number one

The sun peered out through the clouds for the first race of the weekend, with Louis getting off to a good start, maintaining his position well and applying pressure to teammate Sebastian Alvarez off the line. Alvarez however was equal to any advances from Foster. By the end of the first lap, Louis lost a position as he was overtaken by Bart Horsten, however he remained calm and collected and began to fight back for a podium spot.

Louis delivered consistent lap times throughout the remainder of the race and maintained his position well to cross the line in fourth place, however Alvarez was hit with a penalty for a false start and the result was Louis on the podium.

Race Two - The race that never happened

The second race of the weekend was cancelled with weather conditions worsening. The race did begin but was hit with a red flag after a single lap, with more rain making the track too dangerous for racing. The British F4 championship has confirmed that this race will be re-run at a future weekend and this will be confirmed at a later date. As a result, there were no points awarded for this round of the championship.

Race Three - Podium number two

The last race of the weekend aired live on ITV4, with the Vansdirect sponsored racer lining up in second position on the grid for a race that was filled with drama. Louis made a good start away from the line to put him comfortably in second place heading into Clervaux. However after two incidents in one lap the safety car soon appeared and the race was neutralised to allow marshalls to remove cars.

The race restarted on lap five with Louis holding his nerve to get a clean getaway and keep his nose out of trouble as he remained comfortably in second spot to bring home another trophy and a solid points haul.

Louis now sits on 172 points in the British F4 championship table, only five points behind new championship leader Zane Maloney. Speaking after his impressive weekend at Croft, the Vansdirect sponsored driver commented:

"It's been a good weekend overall I got to grips with the track quickly which is promising, especially after coming off the back of a busy week with my GCSE exams. I was pleased with my qualifying performance and was happy to be on the front row of the grid for race three.

"Race one went to plan and we were able to get a podium. It was a shame about race two being cancelled, but I'm looking forward to resuming that battle later on in the year! Race three was probably the strongest one for me of the weekend, finishing in second and showing some strong pace. I'm excited to see what we can achieve at Oulton as I know we have the pace to be back winning races!"

Foster won't have long to wait to attempt to regain his lead at the top of the British F4 championship, with the next round of races taking place at Oulton Park on June 30th!
