Signwriting your new van

Signwriting your new van

Your van is your mobile billboard and your chance to get your business name out there. Vansdirect provides you with tips for signwriting your new van.

Why Signwriting?

Your brand new van screams out professionalism and presents an excellent image for your business, but how can you make it stand out from competition? How can you get your brand name out there? Why not try signwriting?

If your van finance option allows (may be best to avoid signwriting on your contract hire agreement, unless it is 100% removable). Research has shown that if you have your company name signwritten on the side of your new van, around 3,000 people per hour on average will see it. In terms of advertising and company awareness, signwriting quite often pays for itself.

There are many options available to you:

Vinyl wraps

You can choose partial or full vinyl wraps. Your design will be scanned and digitally printed on vinyl and then attached professionally to your new van. This will require taking your new can to the wrapper's facilities to get the wrap fitted and this may leave you without a van for a couple of days. When you next look for a new van, you'll be required to remove the vinyl which can be a hassle; vinyl wraps will also leave an outline on your van so wouldn't be suitable in a contract hire agreement, due to alterations in the state of the van. With van leasing if you don't feel the outline is significant enough to affect the value of the van covering the balloon payment, then vinyl wraps may be an option.

Reusable graphics

Reusable graphics are an affordable way that you can change and reuse your company's images on your new van, whenever you feel like. A specialist tool is provided from Spedlan who provide this service, which allows you to change or remove your livery completely. Spedlan has claimed that these graphics aren't attached to the actual paintwork of your van, therefore these graphics can be suited to both contract hire and van leasing agreements.

Hand-painted signwriting

Cheap initially, but you'll have to think about the future, it may cost you more to maintain and update.

Magnetic signs

These tend to be cheap and easy to duplicate, but may be vulnerable to the elements or even thieves, these can easily be stolen or fall off occasionally during driving.

These are a cost effective way to put your company livery on your new van. Providing you have a high quality laser printer, your design can look sleek and professional, without costing an arm and a leg. These are also relatively easy to alter and remove.

Think about your design

So you've decided on the type of signwriting that you're looking for, now it's time to decide on your design. It may be useful to think about the following factors:

Ensure you get proof of what the signwriting will look like on your new van before it is fitted, just incase you need to make alterations

Include your company logo and accreditations

Think about colours of signwriting and your typeface, will it match your branding?

Think about a professional to design the signwriting
