New Nissan NV250 small van set for 2020!

New Nissan NV250 small van set for 2020!

Nissan vans will have a new small van joining their range in 2020. Based on the Renault Kangoo, Vansdirect takes a closer look at the Nissan NV250!

Nissan NV250 small van

Renault Kangoo in disguise?

Above you can see the newest model to join the thriving small vans market in the form of the Nissan NV250. You may think that it looks familiar and that's understandable, as the new model is essentially a Renault Kangoo or Mercedes Citan with a new nose and Nissan's V-shaped grille in place of the Renault vans diamond or Mercedes vans star at the front of the new van. Even the headlights have remained unaltered.

By using many of the facets of the Renault Kangoo, the NV250 uses mechanical components under the surface which are tried and tested. This alone means that Nissan vans are confident enough of its reliability to offer the new van with the standard five-year/ 100,000 mile warranty they supply with all of their new vans.

Three body styles

The new small van will be available in three body styles, with a panel van in L1 and L2 lengths and an L2 crew cab version, also the same as the Renault Kangoo. The Nissan NV250 panel van is available with either two or three seats in the cab, with payloads sitting at 650kg for the L1 model and 800kg for the L2.

How much will the new small vans be able to carry?

Load volume measures up to 3.5 cubic metres for the L1 model with the optional load-through bulkhead or 4.6 cubic metres for L2 models. Opting for the bulkhead means that you have the ability to carry items as long as 2.5-metres in length in the smallest version of the Nissan NV250 or 2.87-metres on L2 models, up from 1.73-metres and 2.11-metres respectively.

Moving to the small crew van, there are two seats in the rear of the NV250 with the option of adding a multi-positional bulkhead to move the seats out of the way so there is space for more cargo. The new crew van is available in L2 size only and offers a payload of 740kg. The multi-positional bulkhead is available with convenience in mind, meaning load volumes range between 2.4 and 3.6 cubic metres. All models come with asymmetric rear doors, whilst the L1 has a single sliding side door and the L2 gets a pair of sliding doors.

Engines come from, you guessed it . The Renault Kangoo, with the 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine available in three power outputs: 75ps, 90ps and 110ps offered in the panel van whilst the crew cab is available in the more powerful two of the engines.

Inside the cab of the Nissan NV250 is identical to that of the Renault Kangoo with lots of grey plastic and a very functional design, like the Kangoo, the NV250 small van is available with the option of TomTom navigation on higher spec models.

When will we see the new small vans?

The Nissan NV250 small van will join the Nissan vans range at some point in 2020.
