CV show 2017 - Highlights (Part 1)

Now that the CV show has concluded, Vansdirect looks at some of the highlights of Britain's largest commercial vehicle event.

 

CV Show introduction

Held at the NEC in Birmingham, the CV show played host to a number of different van manufacturer's and other experts within the van industry, including: racking firms, security firms and trailer providers, all looking to raise awareness and generate interest in their products and services.

 

Here are the CV show 2017 highlights

 

Ford unveils new Transit Courier Sport van

 

At the front of the hall, Ford had a prominent presence at the CV show 2017. The new Transit Courier Sport is a transformed version of the 'standard' van, including: 16 inch alloy wheels, racing stripes, body coloured front and rear bumpers, leather trimmed steering wheel, air conditioning, Ford's latest sync system with CD player and DAB radio. Available with either a 1.0 litre petrol engine or 1.5 litre TDCi euro 6 diesel engine, the Transit Courier Sport van will include a full steel bulkhead and LED load area lighting as standard.

 

 

Renault unveils Formula Edition vans

 

With a significant stand at the CV show, Renault showed off a range of sporty vans at the CV show, with Formula editions of the Kangoo, Trafic and Master all on show. These vans were accompanied by two F1 cars, as they play tribute to the Renault F1 team and will include touchscreen satellite navigation and leather interiors. The sporty models are expected to go on sale in the middle of 2017, with 17-inch black alloy wheels, racing stripes and improved standard kit.

 

Isuzu unveils new D-Max pick-up

 

Small styling enhancements, a new engine and lower running costs, these are just some of the changes to the new Isuzu D-Max pick-up. In terms of engine, the 2.5 litre turbodiesel has been replaced by a more efficient 1.9 litre engine that can achieve up to 40mpg. Power has not been compromised as a result of this change, remaining at 164ps. It's not all change for the D-max, with it retaining its four-wheel drive, payload of one tonne and towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes when towing a braked trailer.

 

 

Renault unveils new Alaskan pick-up

 

Another part of the significant Renault stand showed their new pick-up van. Based on popular Navara pick-up by Nissan, the can will have the ability to tow up to 3.5 tonnes. With no launch date confirmed, it is expected that the Renault Alaskan will be available to buy from late 2017 and to be powered by a 2.3 litre DCi engine, with 160ps and 190ps outputs.

 

 

MAN unveils the TGE van

 

Based on another van newly launched at the CV show from Volkwagen, the Crafter, the MAN TGE signifies MAN's first move into the LCV segment and will be available in three lengths and three load heights. Available in front and rear wheel drive, the MAN TGE will be driven by a 2.0 litre turbodiesel engine which is also sourced from Volkswagen. There appears to be promising times ahead from the truck manufacturer.
