Best new vans set to join the market in 2019
2019 is poised to be an important year in the new van world as the market continues on its green pathway. Vansdirect takes a look at the best new vans poised to join the market in the next 12 months!
Best new vans 2019
2019 is set to be another significant year in the UK new van market, expect to see a surge in new electric van sales as governments in major cities clamp down on the worst polluting vehicles, as a result you'll see an electric theme amongst many of the new vans set for the coming months. 2019 has already started with the bang with the International Van of the Year 2019 trio, the Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Vauxhall Combo small vans joining the market, below are the next few to get excited about!
Ford Fiesta van
Ford vans have been incredibly busy over the past year or so, launching facelifted models of the Ford Transit Custom, Ford Transit Connect and Ford Transit Courier vans, however there's far more to come in 2019 starting with the new Ford Fiesta van which we first saw at the CV Show in April 2018. The car-derived van is back by popular demand and will become the only van of its kind when it rejoins the market in 2019.
Ford Transit Custom PHEV
The UK's best-selling new van will have a hybrid van that will become the first PHEV to be launched in the UK new van market. Ford vans have put the hybrid through stringent trials over the last 12 months with the final production Ford Transit Custom PHEV revealed at the 2018 IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hannover last year. There's no range confirmed as of yet, but expect a pure electric range in the 30 mile area and payload in excess of one-tonne (this has been confirmed).
Ford Transit facelifted model
Ford vans have left the biggest model in the Ford Transit range till last in terms of facelifts, however we will see a facelifted Ford Transit this year. The new Ford Transit was also first seen at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hannover and will feature mild hybrid technology for the very first time, whilst other changes feature a heavily revised front end and a host of new technology.
Mitsubishi L200 facelifted model
Another van to have undergone is significant facelift, the Mitsubishi L200 facelifted model represents forty years of the iconic Mitsubishi L200 pick-up with a new look and an extensive list of updates. The new front end is more in line with other vehicles from the Mitsubishi range whilst the list of standard safety equipment and driver assistance packages raise the bar in the segment.
Mitsubishi Shogun Sport Commercial
Mitsubishi are getting the knack of turning their SUV line-up into commercial vehicles, the Shogun Sport is the third in their range to have had the van treatment and the Mitsubishi Shogun Sport Commercial was also first seen at the CV Show in April 2018. The new van is essentially a Shogun Sport SUB with the rear area made more practical for load carrying, expect to see this new model in 2019.
This is the first all-electric van from the iconic Mercedes-Benz vans brand and is unsurprisingly based on the Mercedes-Benz Vito medium van. There haven't been wholesale changes to the battery operated Vito, which has just replaced the traditional powertrain with a battery. The range is set to be around 93 miles quoted, or 62 miles when faced with a full loading bay and cold UK weather.
Another van which outlines the electric van strategy of Mercedes-Benz vans, with three new models on their way in the coming years. The new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter was developed from day one with battery power in mind and the electric model will join the range before the end of 2019. The eSprinter is set to have a range of either 71 or 93 miles dependent on whether you opt for three or four batteries and it can carry a payload up to 1,040kg.
All-new Vauxhall Vivaro
Perhaps the most hotly anticipated new van on this list. The PSA takeover of Vauxhall vans has represented significant changes in the Vauxhall vans range, with firstly the Vauxhall Combo sharing platforms with the Citroen Berlingo and Peugeot Partner and now the Vauxhall Vivaro set to go the same way in 2019, joining with the Citroen Dispatch and Peugeot Expert vans. We've only seen the Vauxhall Vivaro in MPV Life form up until this point, with the reveal of the panel van set for the near future, before joining the market midway through 2019.
Iveco Daily facelifted model
The Iveco Daily van joined the market in 2014 making it five years old this year, which is around about the time that van makers decide to give their vans a refresh or facelift. Details of what the 2019 facelift involves for the Iveco Daily van are particularly sparse at this time, however we'd expect them to cosmetic in the majority and based around the front end of the van.
