Van leasing firm Alphabet have announced that their vehicle sharing platform currently available for cars, labelled ‘AlphaCity’ will now be available for van fleets.
Van leasing firm Alphabet have boasted that the announcement in conjunction with the technology now being available with a larger selection of vehicles, will help broaden the appeal of AlphaCity for businesses of all sizes. The scheme was launched in the UK in 2012 with the purpose of providing a more practical and cheap alternative to traditional car-pooling, rental or even taxis. AlphaCity allows employers to set up their own CarSharing scheme which can be opened and booked directly by employees, via a user-friendly web portal
The AlphaCity reservation platform has also been redesigned and it has been integrated into their AlphaGuide app. Until now Alphabet only offered the platform on BMW group cars (BMW and Mini) however they have now announced that it will now be available on a greater selection of vehicles, including vans.
Carsten Kwirandt, head of marketing and business development at Alphabet commented on the enhancement of their offering: ”We continue to offer our customers the best-fit business mobility solution for their company. Improving our highly successful product AlphaCity by expanding the choice of vehicles which are able to be shared within a fleet, is our latest way of doing so.”
Car sharing and e-mobility manager of Alphabet, Daniel St Claire commented on the new technology and what vans we can expect it to be compatible with: ”The new AlphaCity MultiMake technology can be fitted to almost any LCV as per the customer’s needs.” He also revealed that the brand have installed and tested the technology with a small van in the form of the Renault Kangoo, a medium van in the form of a Mercedes Vito and a large van in the form of the Mercedes Sprinter. St Claire commented that: ”These are the first steps in bring the AlphaCity keyless sharing technology to commercial vehicle fleets for the first time.”
The modified AlphaGuide app is now available in application stores and has been automatically updates for existing users of the app. The van leasing specialists have revealed that the new AlphaGuide still contains features such as: access to contract data and electric charging locations, but boasts that it now improves user experience with the new appearance.
