All new Ford vans will feature electrification as part of new strategy
Ford vans have revealed that all new Ford LCVs will feature some form of electrification, these plans have arisen as part of a new strategy for the brand in Europe, Vansdirect reveals all!
New Ford vans strategy in Europe
With a primary focus on profitability, these plans have arisen as part of a new strategy for the Ford brand in Europe. As part of a wide-ranging announcement from the brand, Ford vans have revealed that all of their vehicles going forward will be offered with either a mild hybrid, full hybrid, plug-in hybrid or full-battery electric option, this includes everything from passenger cars to vans.
Ford Transit Custom PHEV
In line with the electrification plans, a plug-in hybrid version of the UK's best-selling new van, the Ford Transit Custom is currently undergoing trials in the UK and is due to go into full production later on in 2019, whilst a facelifted Ford Transit van is also set to join the market later this year and will feature mild hybrid technology.
Leverage relationships
As part of the announcement, Ford vans also said that it plans to leverage relationships, this includes an alliance with Volkswagen vans which has previously been announced, to support LCV growth. This also involves creating a dedicated business group for Ford vans, alongside ones for Ford imports and Ford passenger cars.
Taking decisive action
Ford group vice-president and president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa commented: "We are taking decisive action to transform the Ford business in Europe." He continued, saying that the brand's plans would "support a long-term sustainably profitable business"as well as growing their commercial vehicle operations.
