The Ford Transit Connect is a small van that can be configured in two sizes – SWB (short wheelbase) and LWB (long wheelbase) panel vans – plus a LWB FlexCab (Crew Van).
SWB, LWB and FlexCab body configurations can be selected with one of two turbodiesel engines – 102PS and 122PS – or with a petrol-engine Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) powertrain.
Three trim levels are available - Trend, Limited and Active - though FlexCab is only available in Trend and Active specifications.
Ford Transit Connect vans come with one sliding door as standard on SWB models or have the option of twin sliding doors at extra cost, while LWB models feature twin sliding doors. Asymmetric 60:40 side-hinged rear doors open to 180-degrees.
The Ford Transit Connect is one of the longest models in the small van class measuring 4500mm, making it larger than the Citroen Berlingo and Renault Kangoo.
However, it offers a smaller load area than both overall with the SWB version coming with a 3.1 cubic metre cargo area, while the LWB extends this to 3.7 cubic metres.
The Ford Transit Connect FlexCab is available in both SWB and LWB configurations, with each featuring five seats and a moveable bulkhead. This means the rear seats can be folded or removed to increase the cargo hold when there is no need to carry a full complement of passengers.

The Ford Transit Connect offers a payload of between 593kg and 790kg depending on which engine/powertrain, trim and body style you choose.
The most generous payload of 790kg is available with the 2.0-litre turbodiesel EcoBlue FlexCab Trend trim, while the payload for two-seat panel vans only is 691kg to 772kg.
Almost each model in the Ford Transit Connect range has a towing capacity of 1500kg braked.
The only exceptions to this are 1.5 PHEV LWB, 2.0TDi 102 FlexCab and 1.5 PHEV FlexCab, which are capped at 1400kg.
