UK new van market soars again in November with 9.6 percent growth!
Its been another incredibly positive month for the UK new van market, growing 9.6 percent in November 2018 in comparison with November 2017!
November new van registrations
Statistics revealed by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) have shown an impressive 9.6 percent increase in new van registrations for the month of November 2018 in comparison with the same period in 2017, this increase follows another impressive month in October 2018 where registrations increased by an even larger 14.1 percent.
Pick-ups led the way last month with a 15.8 percent in registrations, followed by large vans which also experienced an incredibly impressive November where registrations increased by 12.9 percent. It was a different story for medium vans and small vans however, both of which experienced a 4.1 percent decrease in registrations.
Operators need stability
SMMT Chief Executive, Mike Hawes focused on the need for stability for new van operators, commenting:
"The rise in demand for new high-tech, low emission vehicles in November is certainly good news. However, overall, the LCV market has been affected by weaker business confidence caused by economic uncertainty, reflected in fluctuating demand throughout the year. Operators need stability to invest and renew their fleets, which now depends on government providing the right conditions."
November's best-selling new vans
There weren't any real wholesale changes in the UK top-ten sellers chart for November 2018, with Ford vans again occupying four of the top ten selling van spots. The top three selling new vans from November were the same as those from October, with the Ford Transit Custom, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Ford Transit taking first, second and third places in the table respectively. The Volkswagen Transporter and Vauxhall Vivaro vans swapped places last month taking fourth and fifth places in the table respectively, whilst the two Ford vans in remained in sixth and seventh places in the form of the Ford Transit Connect and Ford Ranger respectively.
The Citroen Berlingo moved up one place to eighth in the table, to be followed by a new top ten entry in ninth place in the form of its sister van the Peugeot Partner. In tenth place, the Renault Trafic remained unmoved, whilst there was no room for the Peugeot Boxer in the top ten, having occupied eighth spot in the table in October 2018, however the Peugeot Boxer remains the tenth best-selling new van of 2018 overall.
